2002 RSX type S ... Will I ever be done?

Just going to start this thread right now. First major part arrived yesterday, 11/29. Started installing last night. 4 hours on it and I had to drive to work with the dash torn apart and passenger seat loose but today is a new day.

Parts include:

1 - DWW-6500 head unit
1 - Scosche Dash Kit
1 - Metra wiring harness

Problem 1 - The dash kit fit a little tight on the screen so it was causing the motorized screen to hang

Solution - Shave down the dash kit a hair on both sides

Problem 2 - Factory Bose amp in RSX type S model. There is no remote turn on wire comming out of DWW-6500 or power antenna wire. So, no sound yet, because the amp wont turn on.

Solution - Bypass factory amp using wiring diagram on www.clubrsx.com. The threads I read on their forum said that bypassing the amp is always the best way when installing an aftermarket head unit. It involves removing the passenger seat and splicing a mess of wires together.

The DWW-6500 however looks great(Not sure how it sounds yet). It has a good picture. I would not compare it to a kenwood or other major manufacturer in build quality though. I have a picture of the antenna jack i will post later to illustrate this fact. It was very off center in the hole and it required a good deal of effort to plug in the first time.

Hi, I also have an '02 RSX (regular, not S-type). How much did you have to trim off the bezel for it to fit? I was looking into getting the Scosche dash kit, but I will be using the Lilliput 629 GL. Please post some pics of your install.

About an 1/8" off each side. The dww-6500 is more like a HU than just screen though so I don't know if that will help.

I have been taking lots of pics though so when I have more time and my project is more complete I will post them.

I did finally get it in the dash. I still haven't heard any sound I hooked up one speaker and i could just barely hear the radio. Does any one know if the amp is wired in series on this unit?

It might be easier to just disreguard the bose amp that came with the Type-S, and buy an aftermarket one.. I hear they are a pain to get to work.

I finally finished my computer install it went pretty well. I ended up having to remove about 40% of my interior to get all the wires run but think it went pretty well.

The MII12K and Morex case.

4 Guage amp wiring kit.

Wiring running through the center console.

The amp wire comes through the glove box and across the passenger side to the trunk. The rest of the wiring runs through the center console under the carpet to the trunk.

I mounted it to a peice of mdf cut to fit in the side of the trunk. I wanted to make sure it didn't interfere with access to the spare tire well. I made some brackets and to mount the computer to the mdf. I bought a shorter Y cable and I am gonna get rid of that loop. The ground is 4 guage and about 3 feet long. It is grounded to a 1/4-20 bolt that is holding the mount to the case on the outside and grounded to the power supply on the inside. I am having some noise issues. I think the ground is good but I am using the onboard audio and i don't think it is sheilded well enough. I am gonna get a USB sound card and see if that helps. Any comments?

I am not thrilled with it. Clipping in the loud volumes and the reception is not as good as my factory stereo. There is a little bit of fading under bridges.
