Further don't forget that the big pusher of USB2 is Intel you know the guys that were telling and selling for years that only MHz counted
They are now in a position where they have completely obliterated that concept as to go in the direction of power to Watt ratio (incidently it is a selling factor :economy of energy)
Forget USB and given the choice of Firewire take it you'll be glad
Music is not only throughput but also timing and that is another matter and here the OS is also playing a big role (latency etc ...)

Just curious what those wires are?
Cheers
It's so that the case can easily be removed. The wires there are 2 for the case fan (it's connected to a switch at the front of the car so that it can be turned off while being judged) and the other two are to the reset button that's in the glovebox.
I'm not using the 6pin molex on the side either as I'm running the DSATX PSU. The 150 watt PSU that comes in the case isn't big enough for this PC and I wanted the features that the DSATX offers.

Any updates?
Red,
Any updates on this? I've just gotten my PC working in the car, and I was curious as to how I can increase the quality and pre-out voltage.

I'm still working with the Alpine.
With everything we've got going on, I've not had the time that's needed to devote to this.
I'm actually looking for a PXA-H900 to replace the 701 with.
I'm not sure what you're asking about increasing the quality and pre-out voltages on?

Did you give up on using the mutiple DAC's like the Hippos straight from the PC?
What things do you have going on?

No - still with the optical out of the mobo to the alpine.
Work and building a house are taking up most of our time right now.
My husband is starting a new job as well next week.

As for mounting the RCA ends...am wiaiting to figure out where I'm going to be putting this PC in the GTi and if I'm going ot be using a case, etc.
i never thought of that but could that be done for pretty much any soundcard?
