as for the question about if it's possible to do it on any sound card...sure.

However, I haven't had a chance to listen to this card in this configuration at all so i can't say if it works or not.

Hi Jan,
just wondering if you were still running the Alpine PXAH701 or if you'd managed to get the RCA's working out of the X-Meridian yet?
did you win the comps using the alpine? were you just running the line out from the card to the alpine then from alpine to various amps for subs, fronts rears etc?

still looking into usb DACs which will do fronts/rears/sub?

im just trying to work out what to do sound wise now.. either looking for a card and a proven setup or DACs but not sure!

LOVE the install!
thanks,
- tom

wow - contact me 3 ways why don't cha!?

No - I am not runnig the RCAs out of the sound card right now. It won't be happening for a while too. I've got too many other things going on right now to spend the time on it.

Yes, we won 2 world titles running the Alpine.

Just to clarify, she's still running the digital optical out from the older PCMCIA sound card to the DSP and then analog RCA's to the amps.

Hey,

Yea so I finally checked out your profile and noticed that you were the one with the sick amp rack! I love that amp rack and I wanted to do something like that, how easy was that?

Thanks

easy?! HA! This was probably a crap load harder than making something out of wood and fiberglass...lol

Really, it's just extremely time consuming and tedius. Unlike with wood, if you're short on your measurements with steel, you have to start all over...with wood you can at least screw on some additional pieces and keep going.

There's also some technique to get the putty right to smooth it out.

Grinding down the welds afterwords is also VERY time consuming. If you've never worked with steel before, or worked on something of this nature as in fabriaction, I don't recomend starting off with this suff....

I don't know why you didn't have them mandrel bent. Bending the tubing would have been way less work.

Mandrel bending pipe can only be done on a given radii. If you notice, we don't have a given radii on these pipes...it's very organic, something mandrel bending wouldn't give you. If you really look at the shape, it's not something a bender will give you.

It would take a pipe roller. If it were smaller gauge and thinner wall, it would have been possible with a pipe roller, but this is schedule 40 2-1/4" steel pipe, not EMT.

I thought it could be bent slowly and then moved down and bent a little more to get that shape. Anyway, I was just making sure you thought of that method. Now it makes more sense.
