I installed 3 switches in the holes in the dash so I would have more control over when the computer is on/off. The left switch is a SPDT switch with the center off. The middle and right switches are SPST switches. As you can see, I just put the left switch in the cigarette lighter(disconnected of course). I had to drill the holes bigger for the other two to fit. Here is what they do:
Left Switch - CarPC:
Top - Always On(Key position does not matter)
Middle - Always Off(Key position does not matter)
Bottom - Key Position(Turns on/off with the car)
Middle Switch - Amplifier:
Top - On, but only if the computer is on
Bottom - Off
Right Switch - Subwoofer(Not yet installed):
Top - On, but only if the amplifier is on
Bottom - Off
The faceplate has finally been cut, but it still does not fit perfectly. The holes for the drives need to be cut out a little bigger. Here's how far it is:
The touchscreen part of my lilliput monitor stopped working, so I am now using a touchpad mouse instead. It's a pain when driving, but I'm not going to pay $250 for a new monitor. Mp3car wants $60.00 + Parts + Labor to fix it.
The sound quality was horrible with onboard audio, so I purchased a Silverstone EB-01 DAC. The DAC has tremendously improved the sound quality. I can actually listen without it giving me a headache and hear clarity now. I installed it under the drivers seat and wired it to the amplifier under the passenger seat.
