Well we cant see the pictures because 8th gen forums dont allow external links.
But that really really sucks. What all did they take?
Did you have the eclipse in there, or the mac?

fixed the pics....
they took the eclipse, and you can't tell so much from the pictures, but the dash is just literally destroyed from their point of entry on the drivers side all the way to the passenger side.
The mac and my amp and subs were all safe in my office at the time.
I found both the honda nav bezel and the custom trim ring i made on the seat and floor in about 6 pieces.
They broke every single part from the heater controls to the hazard switch and air vents, airbag covers and gauge clusters just to get that stereo out. I can't drive it because not only were they jamming prybars into an area rife with yellow airbag harnesses, but since they cracked and warped the airbag cover, instead of having a supplemental restraint, i have plastic shrapnel on top of a bomb.
There is so much glass everywhere. I didn't even get into it because i was so tired and so distraught, but i am worried that the seat is probably cut and ruined as well from all of it.

Police have any leads? Any security cameras? Anything to go off of?
I feel really bad for you. That sucks big time.
At least it is insured.

i don't think the police really have anything to go on. My guess is that when they opened my door without a key, the horn started honking and at 3am in a concrete parking garage, started to drive people in the nearby apartments crazy, and when they came out to look, saw the thieves and spooked them. Then someone called the police. I haven't seen the police report yet.
i called the resident manager and laid into her. in the past month, my car has been keyed twice, and broken into, i've filed reports with them and the police each time... i've found live ammunition in the garage, the apartment down the hall from me constantly smells like weed....
soon as my lease is up, i'm outta here, if not before. This is ridiculous.
i gotta say there are some shady peole here and the 'courtesy patrol' they send through once a month with their yellow lights is such a joke.

Man . .this is so hard to see. I cant belive people are so selfish. I take it that the got in through the window?
Well think of the bright side, they cant use the head-unit. Man are they going to be ****ed once they figure out the stole an eclipse that they cant use or sell to anyone else. Plus you get a new one after the insurance claim.
Im so sorry for your loss.

i spoke with my dad about this today... right now i'm very discouraged. he knew my install was clean, it wasn't that flashy compared to most aftermarket HUs, yet they went all the way to the fourth floor of a parking garage, picked my car out of every car there and trashed it. In other words he feels this is more than just a coincidence.
he said something to me though: if you keep doing this, this will happen again. people steal ***** and they will always want your stuff because it's nice.
unfortunately he's right. and the officer this morning told me i was lucky that i still had the car. It could have been stolen outright, i mean: it's a civic.
between those gems of advice and the fact that this is my third car stereo-related comp claim... i think i just have to bow out gracefully and drive a normal car like the rest of the world.
I'm so sad because I really enjoyed doing this stuff... and I know they're all right. I will lose every time.
I'm going to get the car repaired, put back to stock, and get whatever value I can out of what i put into it and stick it in my savings. I just feel that's all i can do anymore.

when you say that this was your salvation after your breakup, i understank, this is true for alot of people in the hobby, i started my project to distract me from my own bad relationship then one day i realized that distractions will never get me through anything so i broke up with her, i had to. but i lost the drive to continue and finigh my own carputer project. and starting it again reminds me or her, well it used to, now much time has passed and I have allbut forgoten the dull torment of it...
This may look like a major setback for bolth the projest and your emotional state, but now you get to start over a fresh and new one. insurance will pay for the lost and damaged and you can start it again without thinking about your relationship and the breakup.i wish you the best, and in this situation i recomend padding the statement...
I had my last civic broken into about 4 times, at the mall, school, infront of my house, and at the bodyshop. everytime i went to a gut at a stereo shop and he would make up recipts for equipment that "was" there *wink wink* i dont know about your insurance but mine covers 1500 for stario, 2000 for music cd's and 5000 for auto damage, did they take the macputer?, if not then take it out, you have photo evidence it was there... but thats just me, i come out to find the wires sticking out from my car like a toung of a animal in pain, money and thing dull that pain and new stuff just makes it go away...

Man, I was waiting to see some more pics only to find out you got robbed. What a shame: you can't have anything nice anymore without someone else trying to **** up your style.
The silver lining here is you did have your stuff insured, and as a message to the rest of us if you don't, you better because we're protected ONLY by a pane of glass.
My condolences, and I hope the insurance pays for a complete remake.
FWIW, I know Progressive lets you buy Extra coverage for these kinds of upgrades we do to our cars, and I myself have an itemized list i regularly update with my insurance provider.
Best of luck to you and I really hate to see such a nice thing ruined. It was -really- sharp man, really sharp.

Nah dont quit. Maybe they want a golf cart really badly.
There are things you can do though. Once you have a computer that stores everything, regular installs just make you wish you had it back in there. Just do a stealth install.
You are an awesome fabricator. Buy a spare broken radio (if they even exist for 8th gens because it is so new and a Honda so it never breaks ) and create a faceplate. That way they cant see what is in the car. Then hide the mac somewhere in the spare tire well or something.
Get a good alarm. Park by cameras. Everything like that. Attach a tazer or something so when they touch it it fries them like bad KFC.
You need to stay!!!!

you can quit or you can take it to the next level... with a revolving dash, that when not in use closes to revile a trashed dash, then when you hop in a servo flips it to a screen..., then you contiously have to turn you subs off like a mile before you get into the garage... better then giveing up...

i'm completely torn. i so very much appreciate all of your sentiments, and for those that i have, i've really enjoyed the pleasure of working with you on your projects. There's such a wonderful sense of community here and support. I feel like it would be a disappointment and a disservice to this community to quit...
but on the other hand is that cold touch of reality: the fact that right now, I don't have a secure place for such a project. every time this happens, despite having insurance, it puts me out $500 and days without my car. I face rising insurance premiums. And the certainty that it WILL happen again is undeniable. Sadly this is a story that almost anyone here can tell, some more than three or four times.
i just don't know.

Dont let other's actions effect the your life. There are a few things you can still do. First is a real alarm, I suggest a Viper 5002, with remote transmitter. The new LED for the Vipers is a VERY bright blue they could see the LED from across the room.
Second is tint the windows. Most tint also works as a security device . .here's how. When they break the glass the tint keeps in in large chunks forceing the theifs to put their hand through the glass, and with any luck they'll leave alittle blood behind.
Third Remove the trunk release cable from inside the car. Now you have to have the remote to open the trunk (keep a spare remote).
On a side note with the new immobilizer system I dont know of any 2006 Civics being stolen (unless it's done by a dealer insider). The immobilizer is part of the ECU and is matched to the car. So the car is safe.

Been watching this install since its inception, and learning a good bit. I drive another "target" car, so I know how you feel being under the gun. There are a few things you can do to protect your stuff, but by FAR the best advice is to get the Hell out of the hood. I know that's easier said than done, but if you lived near me, I'd be there tomorrow night with work gloves ready to load your stuff into a truck. Living in fear isn't living at all.
By that same token, you probably shouldn't give up something you love because some asshats broke into your car. I know this is not the first time. But it could happen with a stock stereo. Or they could just take the car. What then? No car? Sell it and buy an 88 Olds Achieva that no one wants? Where do you draw the line when it comes to giving up things you like because someone else is an asshat?
Do what I did. 1) Move out of the hood. Maybe a smaller apartment in a better place. I highly advise getting out of apartment complex life altogether. Those places are gold mines to thieves. I now live in an apartment - the second floor of an old house that's been split into an upper and lower apartment. Look for these places. It's well worth it.
2) Tint your windows. Go to the police and wave the reports at them. "People keep busting into my car and I'm sick of it. I want you to write me a permit to tint my f'ing windows for security purposes!" Some will do so. I wasn't so lucky, but I know people where were.
3) Watch where you park. Is there a safer place two blocks away? Carry an umbrella and park there. I do this often.
4) Take that insurance $$$ and put it into a good security system and a stealth install. You definitely have the skills (which I envy greatly). Now you'll have the money to put some thought into it and really make it something awesome.
Cliff's Notes: Don't let the asshats drag you down. Move to a safer place and do the world's greatest stealthputer.
