so it does nothing ;-)... but good find!
i got the car back today... shiny and straight and perfect like the day i got it (NOT!---see below). I'm going to have to get into the door with some duct tape and chewing gum to pick up the last few pieces of glass that are still rattling around in there... but otherwise it's back (i spoke too soon).
It's one piece of my life back in order (at least i can drive it now... the engine is still a beast).

and after looking more closely:
1. they put in the wrong steering wheel (EX, not Si),
2. the blackout pillars (b-pillars) are now a different color on the right side than the left
3. tailpipe is still gouged... steel wool did not fix that...
4. glass still in the door makes it sound like it's quite broken whenever i close the door
5. tach cowl isn't holding on all clips so it pushes in when you push on it and comes back out.
6. found more scuffs and scratches on it that weren't there when i dropped it off.
it just never ends...
house buying isn't going so well either... i may just find an apartment with a single car garage and keep chipping away at the house problem.

Hey man I wrote a message to you a few months ago and wanted to ask you a question...but I just read that your car got broken into and I just wanna say I'm really sorry. I had that happen to me and I just felt violated... and I didn't have as much stuff as you either...anyway I hope you get back all that you had from the insurance and I really hope you get back on here helping us all out. you really know your stuff and it would be a shame not to have you in this community.

hope this helps
First of all, I think the whole project is really cool. I would like to do something like that in my Si, but don't have the money for it.
The real reason for my post is to offer some advice. If your lease makes any mention to 'the right to peaceful enjoyment' (which it should), then you can break your lease without penalty if this right is violated. I would say that the damage done to your car is definitely a violation of your peaceful enjoyment. I know I'm saying this a little late (didn't see this thread until very recently), but I hope it is still helpful.
Sorry about your car and the loss of your hard work. In addition to tinting your windows, I would recommend getting a car cover. I had a friend who got a cover after his truck was broken into. He also got some steel cable and locks to lock the cover to the car. His truck was not broken into again. If they can't see what you have to steal, then they are not as likely to break in.

despite the drawbacks to living among "humans" . . . theres always some selfish dude out there . . .
I read you're blog and am inspired into this hobby. Thanks
I'm actually been looking into a new car first though and wanted to know your opinion on your car. Every time I look at a car other than the si sedan, I'm slowly drawn back to it. Can you pm me how you like it? don't want to steal your thread lol.

I hope you gave the insurance company hell for the stuff that's still wrong with her. It's their job to put her back to her original state.

well more like give the repair shop hell. The insurance only has to pay for it.
How is everything now? Get that gouge out of the tailpipe and the glass out of the door and everything?

At this point the glass is pretty much out... i don't know where it went. i forgot about the tailpipe, but thanks for reminding me
It's driveable, though not as pristine as it once was.
As long as i don't think about any of it, it's still as much fun as the day i got it. I took it up into the mountains today. I'm just listening to my mp3 player and trying to enjoy the car for what it is.
