April 3rd UPDATE!!!

I have everything for the most part except the HDD and the power supplys. The HDD was ordered and should be here by Wed. The mock for the powersupplys was done with a M1-ATX from my othe system. Well to the pics.

The unmolested glovebox

Pic of me test fitting the plexi in the glovebox

Another pic of me testfitting the plexi.

The plexi with the standoffs drilled, tapped, and screwed in. The plexi is also mapped out for the MB and one of the powersupplys. The second powersupply will mount under the plexi with the HDD.

The back side showing the standoffs for the second powersupply and my homemade mountind brackets made from MDF. I used Cap head screws and t-nutts to screw them together. All hardware is stainless.

M.B., Memory, Processor, Wireless card, and M1 mocked up on the plexi.

The glove box got cut.

Another shot of the cut glovebox.

Rear shot cut out for one of the fans. This fan will exhaust, and the fan on the side will blow in fresh cool air.

All mocked up in the glovebox.

Another shot of everyhing mocked up in the glovebox.

Well thats all for today I will post more as I get more product, so keep checkin back.

Looking good. Cool place to put the computer. Wonder if a mATX MB would fit in there.

Thanks, yes a mATX board fits. Anything but a fullsize ATX board should fit in there. Im not sure about the Grand Ams though, My buddie says his box is quite a bit smaller. Sweet cars Im partial to the vibe though Are you on GENVIBE also?

I'm DopeVibeGT on GenVibe.

Where do you plan on putting the HD? I was going to stick the case in the back, along the rear panels somewhere. This idea seems cooler.

Oh, the computer is going into the Vibe. The GA is a show car and gets driven only occationally, so I really dont need a computer in it. PS2, yes.

I wil be making a mount for the HDD on the bottom of the plexi along with the second M2-ATX. My first thought was to put the PC in the rear but decided aginst that just so if I have to take it in the house for something it is a 5 min job as opposed to a 1 hour job.

April 8th Update

Well I decided on going with the 2 M2-atx PSUs over the opus just because thoes were my intentions from the start. If I went with the opus I would have to move everything around and then have some un needed holes in my glovebox, (you know I dont want mail falling out J/K)
So the PSUs are ordered and hopefuly will be here mid week.
I also got my monitor last night, I got the monitor new for $50.00, (its good when friends owe you money and dont have it to pay). I wanted to do another 7in but couldnt pass up this one, I was also thinking transreflective but I think I can wait to see if I am unsatisfied with this one. I will have the angle slightly different then my xenarc was. BTW the monitor is a t view 8" I started to cut my dash ezel up so here are a couple pics

Here are the unmolested pieces

I have the bezel marked out for cutting. I had to notch out the 2 circles because they are for my hazards and rear defrost.

I got the bezel cut and fit the monitor in to see where I need to trim.

When this is done I will be starting on the center console which I will house a DRC controler for my zapco DSP-6 (unless I get the program embedded soon I am having some difficulty with this), My cd rom will also go in there with a usb hub and the hazard and refrost controls that I need to move.

Random update

I ordered IG3 and a bu-353 reciever today an I am looking for a wireless antenna and keyboard still. I think that is about it though then I should be done. (for a while anyway).

One more thing this you shouldnt ever open epoxy with an exacto blade. I was being lazy and my wife being a nurse thought it needed stiches so we go to the hospital and DR. says it should be stiched but he didnt think they would hold up because the cut goes from the upper middle side to about 1/2 way around the finger where the crease bends the finger tip. Heres a pic after we got the beeding slowed with my second towel.

OOPS!! but now atleast you can't say I didn't put some blood sweat and tears into the project.
