    Special Sale Price: $549.99
Industrial Grade Sunlight Readable VGA 7" Touch Screen Monitor
    Now through February 2, 2010
    Regular price: $949.99

Our Industrial Grade Sunlight Readable VGA 7" Touch Screen Monitor is a perfect fit in applications where durability and readability are of paramount importance. Applications include personal vehicles, public transportation vehicles (buses, taxis, public fleet), public service vehicles (police, fire, ambulance, and other public fleet) and any other situation where a small footprint and image quality are important. This monitor performs well even in direct sunlight or strong ambient light.

It includes a video scaler chipset supporting VESA from 640x480 and up to 1024x728 including the native resolution 800x480. The touch panel has a USB interface.

In addition, the XF700 includes the latest generation of LED backlighting, with passive enhancement to achieve high brightness, while allowing the lowest possible power consumption. Additionally, the dimmer allows one the possibility of matching the brightness to the ambient light. This makes the display able to work in the darkest conditions without disturbing the driverís visibility. It also allows high brightness for intense lighting environments.

    Hi,

No, we think we have settled on a pretty fair price for the quality of the monitor.

I understand, but by the time it gets into Canada it's $1,000 with taxes, brokerage fees, etc...

Other than the metal housing, what about this monitor makes it "industrial grade" and of higher quality?

Are there any internal drawings and photos available? It would be taken apart to fit into the custom bezel in the car but the space is tight so I need to know what the innards look like.

    Thanks.

    Hi sebberry,

The image quality of this monitor is truly remarkable. It is brighter, has more vivid colors, and extremely good sunlight readability when compared with our own "mp3Car Sunlight Readable Monitor." I tested these two monitors side by side myself in the direct sunlight and the difference was very apparent. Our own "mp3Car Sunlight Readable Monitor" is slightly more readable in all sunlight conditions (i.e. viewing angle is slightly less than the XF700). However, the brightness and color vividness of the XF700 screen far outweighed the slightly (and I mean slightly) more reflection you get with the XF700, in my opinion.

The XF700 screen really “popped,” to use a trite word, where as the mp3Car Sunlight Readable monitor was just kind of “on.” This isn’t to say there isn’t a place for our own sunlight readable monitor. If you truly need to be able to view the screen in all light conditions (i.e. outdoor industrial applications or military applications) over actual screen appearance in the sunlight, the mp3Car Sunlight Readable Monitor is for you. Most of us on the forums are looking for a nice compromise of screen readability and bright, vivid colors, which is why I normally recommend this screen to them.

Beyond this, operating environment specs are better with the XF700 and the unit has been tested for shock and drop resistance (i.e. 20G in 11ms & 10cm max, respectively).

We do not have information on the innards of the XF700 yet as we have not cannibalized one ourselves.

    Stephen
