    thanks
    I agree totally with the hide on minimized. I have more than enough stuff on my taskbar. I load mine as RR app so (at least while we're just testing ) prefer not to autoexecute or make it configurable option.

    I did have a couple instances while I was out this weekend when I lost my internet link (damn cellphone towers) the system kept logging, but at upload time it couldn't transmit packet or something like that. My question is does the client program (in my car) cache the data till it can upload it or are those packets just lost forever?

    An interesting note about using the Road Runner "Launch Apps" facility for this program: I setup the app in RR before configuring the program with my password. In RR you have to create a subdirectory under /RoadRunner/Launch folder. I put the app there and created an ini file for RR and just happened to name it wimgps.ini. For RR three things must be in this file to successfully embed a windows app:
    [GENERAL]
    PATH = C:\Program Files\Road Runner\Launch\WIMGPS\WIMGPS.exe
    TryEmbeddedTimeOut = 15
    WindowSearchString=WhereIsMyGPS.net

    Interestingly enough your program used the same ini file for:

    Username=********
    Log Key=*********************
    Delay=6
    [Communication]
    Port=7
    Baud Rate=0

    And they both use the file without conflict.

    Also when embedded in RR if its not onscreen taskbar is hidden, and program continues to function well. I actually tried to view the website while driving on Sunday. Google doesn't like my internet connection so the screen update is extremely slow. Given that I didn't even try the hybrid view. Will go out tomorrow and try again using stripped down config.

    The next version will have a few bug fixes, auto connect, as well as systray support. I'm not exactly sure when that will be. I'm trying to finish the "user" aspect of the website.

    Leddy, I apologize about the lack of response. I am waiting on a fix for my Opus dc-dc used in my new asus pundit-r setup. Once that is in, I'll be testing this bad boy out with reckless abandon! Thanks for your patience.

    Hey, I got it to work yesterday, but as mentioned, I went through a section where I always lose cell phone reception, and the program crashed. It set me back som.

    Also, I am interested in knowing how large, data wise, the packet of information is. I ask cause Cingular (I probably shouldn't have switched, dammit) charges out the wazoo for data. I just don't want to get slammed with fees for the GPRS service. I may consider getting a data plan for this, but since I have several phones on the plan, I think I have to get a data plan for all of them. What a pain in the ***, since with T-Mo I had unlimited GPRS INCLUDED with the plan, and it was much cheaper, but I digress.

    Also, it would be amazing if while i was sending data, I could also use the internet connection to monitor my progress on the maps, in full or semi full screen. Can that be done, and how. And will it be reltively "live"?

    OMG, I can't wait to get my dc-dc working with my new system. I want to try this app out so bad. Opus said I should have the fixed cables in this week. Hopefuly by the weekend i'll be good to go.

    I've got T-Mo unlimited GPRS and it works quite well for low bandwidth uses. I imagine this is the perfect use for low bandwidth connections.

    EDIT: Does this require an always on connection? Not that I mind, since I have the unlimited package WiredWRX previously mentioned; just more curiosity than anything else.

    The program uses the connection that is present, and will only transmit the data if there is an active connection, so yes, it does require an "always on connection" to work properly, but once the GPRS is connected, you are good to go.

    Michael, Thanks for the info. The only thing I'm worried about is whether or not you can effectively make and receive phone calls if the GPRS connection is active at all times (or at all times when in the car specifically). I had considered getting a sony ericsson gc89 wifi+edge pc card and get a dedicated data account for the car and have an always on edge connection. That would be perfect for this and for constant weather/traffic/many other uses.

    When I was using t-mo GPRS, I would still get phone calls, so you shouldn;t really worry about that. If you still are, let me know, and we can test it by me calling you while you have a GPRS connection.

    Not sure what phone you have, but there are edge capable phones out there, that you can tether via BT. I wouldn't invest in the card or the seperate data plan.

    Well Michael, I bought a 1st gen k750i when they first released, and after a few firmware updates it is the perfect phone (except for it doesn't have EDGE). So i'll be sticking with this phone until SE releases one similar but better with EDGE. Plus I built a phone dock in my dash specifically for this phone, so unless I wanna go through all that work again, I'm stuck with this phone and its GPRS only connection capabilities

    Thanks for the info once again.

    Anyone have problems with the program not responding? At least once a day I notice the program is frozen and I have to terminate the process the end it. Also it doesn’t like hibernation very much; I always get an error while coming back from hibernation. I’ll post screen shots later.
