    read only booting

craptree, does fbwf support booting xp from read only media? tried your method but the booting just having a error message

    "unable to mount boot volume"

    technical information - 0x00000ED

the volume boot with read only media and didn't write any files so assume the problem might be a internal conflict . ewf have no problem with read only media.

I'm kinda unclear, correct me if I am wrong.
FBWF protects your drive like EWF, but the thing with FBWF you can point to certain files (IE Centrafuses system files for playlists and what not) and grant them access to being changed so CFs database stays up to date?
If I am right from my reading then this is my solutions to CFs data being in "application data" when I have EWF enabled with HORM.
Thanks for any help that anyone can provide.

    **Update**
Just tried the FBWF. enabled and tested by creating a text documents on my desktop, restarted and it was gone. So i figured that it did "its" thing. Tried to do the "/disable" command and it causes my unit to just reboot. Any guesses. I am using the files from the 2007 i downloaded from M$ site. So yeah. Gonna try it on a Virtual PC
    **END**

    **Update**
the FBWF /disable command causes my virtual machine to reboot.
im lost finding any reasons for this rebot
    **END**

I have tried this with VirtualBox 3.0.10 on XP SP3.

XP always seemed to think it wasnt shutdown properly. When I tried to add an exception to C:\Windows\bootstat.dat and it crashed. It seemed after that, and function to the fbwfmgr would cause a crash. After I did a fbwfmgr /disable, and that VM is totally screwed. Just get a desktop and nothing else after log in.

    Anyone else have anything similar?

Bluescreen and other mistakes - pls give here what you know pls!

    Hi!

First - the WBF and FBWF do not wish to cooperate wit my WINXP PRO SP3 German version, if i activated RAMDISC. I tested many versions, but will not work. OK, what can i do, i tried to test it withot Ramdisc.

Those way was bad too: FBWF with completely installed computer (GData AV, FarCry game and other soft) was not able to activate the FBWF absolutely. I have made the settings in the FBWFMGR, (threshold was set up on 1024 MB !!!) then verified those - all right, it say to me, taht after rebood will FBWF activated and so far ... BUT! After reboot was FBWF not activated like before, and the list of parameters was the same ... after reboot will be activated bla, bla...

If i does the threshold RAM value smaller to 256MB - the after each reboot i got a BLUESCREEN before Win was started!

Then i had installed WINXP PRO SP3 german. NAKED - only unnecessary updates, no AV, no Ramdisc, nothing else only drivers for used hardware. And look that! After properly settings the FBWF manager was working! I can get from the list of buffered files and so far. BUT! If i try to DISABLE IT ... I got the bluescreen either immediately after i does this, or if i restarted the WinXP. (I think, if i wish to made persistent changes, or install new programm to C:, it is necessary to disable the FBWF driver for this time and later enable it again. But this way was wrong again - not one time i had luck to disable before enabled FBWF driver!!! I cannot do more, because on theis Windows is installed only that, wahat i need to run it on this motherboard.

    ---

Any idea to made this working! Is it a new version of this software, what is working better as those from the MS Embedded SP2?

Thank you - if anyone have succesfulöly worked with FBWF driver, pls try to help me!

    Hi,

I followed these steps exactly and XP PRO SP3 now perfectly boots with FBWF enabled.
However, I can't switch it off anymore because FBWFMGR /DISABLE causes a blue screen of death.
I tried the same from a safe boot, same result.
Ofcourse, any change I will make to the system will be gone after a reboot. So is there any other way on how to disable FBWF?

    thanks in advance,

    Martijn

    Can not disable FBWF anymore

    Hi folks
I've got the same issue as Martijn which means my FBWF is working fine on a WinXP prof SP3 but when I try to disable it or make any changes I got a blue screen.
    Anyone knows anything about that.

    I appreciate any good answers.
    Thanks.
