I need some help with xp auto-detect

At one time I did not want Windows to communicate with my cellphone. When I plugged my phone into the usb port (for charging only) the Found New Hardware wizard popped up and I chose not to install any drivers. I clicked the box to make my choice permanent so the wizard wouldn't pop up every time I wanted to charge my phone.

Well, now I would like my phone to be able to communicate with Windows. How do I reverse my choice so I can have the wizard find my phone again?

I installed ActiveSync and it looks for my phone on the usb ports, but it cannot be found? Any ideas?

Have you tried "Add Hardware" in the Control Panel?

yeah, i tried add-hardware. i also checked anti-virus and firewall settings. the settings on my phone are good...it hooks up to my other computers without problems. i also installed a fresh copy of activesync and had it search usb connections. i wonder if xport might be the problem...
