1/2 installed winXP on my microdrive but setup wont complete

I've been through 98% of the bootable cf threads. nothing looks like it can help me in my problem.

all of my hardware supports cf>ide emulation.

I start my xp install onto my micordirve.. it runs through fine. then as soon as it has to restart then enter setup again it doesn't catch the install and continue as needed. can anyone help me out? Thanks!

Ok, so you can get to the point where all the files are copied over, but when the computer reboots it doesn't continue the setup normally but instead loops back to the beginning of the xp install?

If thats the case, then you need to check your bios supports booting from the microdrive and change that setting.

Or am I on the wrong track completely?

Your right on what i was trying to explain. I have it as the first boot device. I boots Ubuntu. Would a crappy cf>ide adapter be at fault? I made a mistake and bought one from ebay. Thanks for the help.

Hmm... ok, does the microdrive light up when your at the post screen (black screen, white writing)? (I'm just trying to see whether the usb port has got power as soon as you turn the laptop on).

If theres no signs of power, then check the bios settings again and look for "wake on usb" or something similar.

I'm not an expert, so am only clutching at straws here really. Can anyone else help?
