Using N800 as car pc touchscreen frontend over desktop - problem restoring session...

Hi,

since I cannot place bigger touchscreen conveniently in my car, I'm thinking of using Nokia N800 Tablet pc as touchscreen frontend (it's much smaller, with perfect touchscreen performance).

I access to car pc desktop (Win XP SP3) over rdesktop - this is preferable way, cause N800 has 800x480 resolution and rdesktop session resizes desktop from 800x600 to 800x480 so it's perfectly seen on N800 screen. Centrafuse works really nice in such setup, I have no problems, responsitivity is ok...

But do have problems with rdesktop. Car pc is setup to automatically logon to certain user and start Centrafuse (CF). And then if I connect over N800 and rdesktop starts new session and session on VGA output is interrupted. When I end rdesktop session, on VGA I see logon screen and have to retype password to logon back to previously interrupted session. But it's impossible since I'm on local touch screen without on screen keyboard.

I guess that having blank password would help, but it's unsafe solution....

Any advice, any possibility to do this better ?

If I try to do it over for instance Tightvnc, it won't resize desktop to N800' resolution, so it's unconvenient to use sliders cause desktop is bigger than N800...

Can I somehow force automatic logon after rdekstop session again (not just on startup) ?

I believe I found a solution, here. Instead of disconnecting the way you normall do, disconnect by running this command

"tscon.exe 0 /dest:console"

You could make this a shortcut somewhere,
I tried this, remoting into a windows 7 machine, for one I had to run this with administrative privlidges, but I also had to use a 2 instead of a 0, to find this i opened task manager, under the users tab, it's the ID for my loginin. if the session is first started by the console then this will likely be 0.

(PS Slighty Off Topic) I found this page by googling 'n800 carpc' as I just won an auction on ebay. I'm probably going to be trying something similar, but since I have 2 16gig SD cards I might initially try it without the PC part for a while. Have you yet tried watching video over RDP?
