    Windows 7 Optimizations

Starting this off with some simple stuff to have a "clean" start up look and feel:

bcdedit /set bootux disabled (blank screen instead of animation)
bcdedit /set quietboot on (no progress bars, even in resume from hibernate)
bcdedit /set bootstatuspolicy ignoreallfailures (disable recovery console which is useless in the car, you shouldn't be BSOD'ing out anyhow)

antimatter found this good tip in order to reduce you hibernation file size. I'm copying and pasting from his post:

if you have 2gigs of memory but only consistently use less than 1gig of physical memory type:

    powercfg.exe -h -size 50

(50 being the percentage of total)

This will make the hibernate file 1/2 the total physical memory which should speed up resume from hibernate times.
Note that the minimum size you can set, according to MSDN, is 50%. More info here: http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...Footprint.docx

Awesome. No need to hack any system files like in XP. Will try it out, thanks!

    Because the would make sense

Truthfully, due to memory fragmentation, you would have much better results using just a single gig of RAM

since ram is cheap some people may have gotten more than necessary to give them enough wiggle room to expand. in reality, with a slimmed down OS ram usage is much lower. so this at least gives you an option to compensate for the unused ram in the event that removing physical ram isn't an option?
