Change/remove the blue XP Welcome screen

I did search, but the word "Welcome" was too common to search...

Anyway - I would like to change the blue "Welcome" screen. I have only one account so the computer boots right to the desktop, but I still get the welcome screen showing briefly before the desktop loads.

I'd like to somehow get rid of or change that. Is this even possible? Thanks.

I believe either LoginStudio from stardock or TuneUp Utilities can do it, they're pretty powerful XP tweaking applications.

Is this XP Pro? If so, you can make some changes in Group Policy Editor that will do most of what you need without the use of any third-party software.

Start>Run: control userpasswords
Click "Change the way users log on or off", uncheck "Use the Welcome screen", click Apply. This turns off the welcome screen entirely and reverts back to the Windows 2000 dialog box.

Start>Run: gpedit.msc
Browse to Computer Configuration, click Administrative Templates>System, double click "Remove Boot/Shutdown/Logon/Logoff status messages", set to Enabled. This turns off the Windows 2000 dialog box and startup status notifications.

Start>Run: msconfig
On the BOOT.INI tab, check the box next to /NOGUIBOOT. This turns off the Windows XP load screen and progress bar.

With these three settings, after your BIOS hands off control to the OS the next thing you will see is your desktop with nothing else in between.

you can also use the above "control userpasswords" but changing it to " control userpasswords2" and this will allow for auto login

There is a way to do the same on win 7? It's pretty important can't find a solution anywhere

Win7 does have similar options. I don't have that installed on any of my computers here though, so I can't tell you exactly where to find them (or if they've even moved), and there may be additional changes required to get the same result as XP. I can tell you for sure that the same "No GUI Boot" option is available in msconfig as stated above. I'm sure someone here that has Win7 installed can give you better instructions.

actually is possible to hide the boot or modify it (animation and texts)
is possible to edit/hide the logon screen and background (that is unique for welcome/ctrl-alt-canc screen/shutdown screens)
the only missing thing is to skip the screens welcome/shutdown and so on, i hope that if some one know it would be nice to write the way he used :)
