I found One really bad thing with this lite 2000. I installed everything, it was great. BUT when I installed Pivot Pro everything ****ed up, and I couldn't get into windows again!!

    Bad luck!

looks like i'll be getting win2k from school, and not winXP.

however, you guys are getting some terrible boot times.

a fresh XP pro install on my comp gives a cold boot time from power on to usable desktop in 33 seconds. unoptomized. i havent even had a chance to run the black viper list yet.

    7200 rpm drive, 40 gig.

    mATX board.

    half gig sdRAM

    duron 1.8 ghz.

nothing particularly exciting. i imagine my boot times will go down a little more when i switch over to DDR ram. (mobo supports both)

i chose the duron cause it was the cheapest solution to reliable divx playing. i may go ahead and sell the duron in favor of a barton core mobile xp2400+, to go from 55 watts power consumption at full load to 45 watts. course, not much advantage from that... maybe i'll go after that mobile 2200+... 35 watts power consumption.

whatever i do, i just need to get it under the 150 watts for the opus, with using a slot load dvd drive. I dont really know what i'm at now... i'm running it on a 180 watt sparkle branded emachines form factor power supply.

    I knew it!

dropped the boot time to 29 seconds with the addition of DDR as opposed to SDRAM.

    cheapest way = download it.

best way... probably through a college student through a school for significant discount.

i tried this today and had no luck. i created the boot cd after replacing the old files with the pre-modded files. the boot cd worked fine. however, after the installation copies the files to my computer and starts windows to complete the installation, i get a product key not found message. It never asks me to put in a product key and just gives me an error. When i use the original windows 2000 cd to install, it goes through fine and then prompts me for the product key. please advise?

How possible is it to boot from compact flash? I got an epia MII 12000 and just wondering if I put the OS on the flash, everything else on the HDD because I think that flash can only be written 10000 times before crapping out.
