All you have to do for a custom XP boot screen is create a 640X480, 16 color image and put it in you windows folder. Name it boot.bmp.
Add the following switches to your boot definition in your boot ini file.
/bootlogo /noguiboot
That's it!

Well i tried it and it did work, except that the image wasn't the image i made. It was very disstorted and only had 2 colours.
Where was this info found?
We are, will have and forever will be...
But not tommorrow!
Just search Google for those options. There are several write-ups about it on the web. As an example, i tried it with the FP boot skin that someone posted here a few weeks back. It works fine. The only thing missing is the little scrolling rectangle thingie at the bottom. I'm not sure if the boot.ini option provides a way to reimplement that or not.
Make sure the image is 16 colours only. I make sure of this by opening my final image in Paint(the one that comes with windows) and saving it to 16 color bitmap format.except that the image wasn't the image i made. It was very disstorted and only had 2 colours.
Photoshop bitmaps resulted in the same thing you describe.
MY FP boot skin!!?? Did it work???
where the hell is boot.ini kept????
for Frodo users:
Rename Boot.zip to Boot.bmp and carry out instructions above
At the root of your boot drive. It's hidden.
