    Microxp

    Mastero,

Does Micro Xp allow you to use comp ports? Like can you hook up GPS with it? I have a USB GPS but im pretty sure it does a com port replicator of some sort. I'm downloading it now and will give it a try in a few seconds.

    Thanks,
    Craig

With adequate amounts of ram (512mb or up) I've had success disabling the page file completely. You could free up even more space n stuff. I think I'll hunt this down and try it out as well. How exciting!

    Well all,

It's working. Yeha you have to be a bit more computer savvy then normal as far as installing drivers go, but i think the benifits are worth it. It boots much faster and so far seems to run better as well. I almost have the whole thing ready to put back in the car. I'm just having a few RR issues (damn thing won't embed my GPS software!) and for some reson winamp won't remember the settings i put in, but other that that. No major probems. I have not installed my touchscreen (it's still in the car and not getting taken out if I can avoid it, dash removal = no fun), but I have the drivers in teh right spot so opefully it wont cause me any problems. Overall, I'm pretty happy I checked out this thread! I'll let you all know what my final install size turns out to be.

Is there a way for people who don't know a lot about windows (but are good with computers) to know what is needed for a given front end and nav app? I'm going to be running RoadRunner and iGuadiance (I think) and want to shrink my install without having to constantly start over cause I removed too much...

Any of you tried using minlogon w/ MicroXP?

Still in the process of installing all my programs, but from "key on" to desktop was 22 seconds from a cold boot. Not too shabby considering my 11th iteration of an nlite'd XP Home SP2 yielded 38 seconds from "key on" to desktop.
