Has anyone tried booting their carPC from WinPe?
This could be booted from a CD, CF, USB Drive, or a normal IDE/SATA HDD. It's a 32 bit OS and shuold be able to run anything that Win XP can run. The newest version supports WMI and is supposed to boot a lot faster then the 1.2 I am used to using. I should be gettuign the newest one in the mail as soon as M$ gets off their a$$. (I use WinPE as tool at work to launch our Windows XP build on all corporate systems.) Lets just say I have a lot of image experience and can probably answer some of the questions that are rolling around here to getting a bootable image smaller if anyone is still wondering.
When I get around to building a carPC I am probably going to boot off a CF using an image ( I live in Ottawa,Canada...brr)
I have a feeling with a bit of tweaking WinPE would be an awesome platform to run on.

I bet such a thread will be incredibelly short. It will end as soon as you guys learn something about limitations of WinPE.

OK once you get XP booting of CF, how do you install software like itunes, and Streets & Trips
it's best to install everything on your hard drive before transfering the OS to CF. of course, you can always install it straight to the CF as well...
is it recomended to disable Pagefile even if Im running with a full XP SP2 system?
thnx
I'm runnin' TinyXP rev2, works perfectly on my Via Epia MII12000 with RoadRunner, Phonecontrol, iGuidance, Firefox and everything else I wanted it to do with the LSX skin. It installs in a few minutes and uses only about 180 megs and, best of all, 50 megs of RAM! This leaves about 450MB left for me to fill! For legal issues I won't post a direct link for you people to download but I'm using it with my legaly bought license...
