    I found one key
    BootExecute
    Type REG_MULTI_SZ
    Data autocheck autochk*

Do I empty the data field?

(there are 3 of these keys actually, all looks identical)

    Quick question ---

I have followed the instructions and everything has worked very well, thanks SF
I am at the step where i am about to copy my install to the CF card, but cannot figure out a way to copy all the hidden and sys files. I have a USB CF card reader and I also have a dual boot on my Carputer, in addition I have a 1.0 GB USB pen drive that I can temporarly store the install on. What would be the easiest way for me to copy my install setup. I have heard people speaking about xcopy but I dont know what it is.

And please the more simple you can make your instructions the better I will do,

    THANKS!

Also has anyone done any testing using prefetching as momanz described on page 2.

    .

You need another operating system. So this is what I typically do, install the os on the car pc with a regular IDE harddrive make sure EVERY thing is 100% working. I then take the IDE drive and connect it to my PC (to make things easier I stole a USB 3.5" hdd kit from work) I also connect the CF card to my PC with a CF reader. I then hit "select all" and copy from the IDE drive to the CF card. Before you do this step you want to make sure your CF card can boot. You can do this my taking all drives off the carpc system, but the CF card and format the disk with format c: /s, then reboot, hopefully you should get a command prompt. You also want to make sure that both drives (IDE,CF) are the same file system before copying.

I know it seems weird or not possible to be able to just select all and copy over but I assure you it works if you've followed the steps to prepare the CF card.
Progress [I will seriously never be done!]

you have a couple of options:

    1) If you have a dual boot set up already boot into your second installation and then just copy the files from the drive onto the CF card. This has to be done from another installation of XP though, because Windows will not let you copy files from the currently running OS.

    2) Use a BartPE bootable CD with xcopy installed.

    3) Use a Knoppix CD and copy the files (may cause problems with hidden files no longer being hidden after you copy over).

    4) I have a USB enclosure for my 2.5GB HDD so I usually plug both the HDD and the CF card into another system and copy them that way. Not the fastest, but it's the easiest for me.

I think i will use by dual boot's second installation and just copy all files from the HD to the CF. About them being the same format. The HD is NTFS and the CF will be FAT(I dont have the CF yet, I ordered it today) But i will prepare the CF as per SF's instructions

    Edit ----
I tested it today and everything worked. Last time I forgot to disable the hiding of system files. Thanks for the help

    ok guys
i just did ewf on my xp sp2
and now i tried to apply HORM
but i cann't skip the resetting hibernation
so after one time boot from hibernation it boots normally...
i confirmed that ewf is working i disabled then make a file named 'resmany.dat'
then enabled ewf and then hibernated...
    what am i missing here?

you need to disable ewf, create the resmany.dat file, enable ewf, reboot so ewf starts up again, and then hibernate.

oh... so even if ewf is enabled... can i hibernate?
i thought ewf will disable writing on the disk what so ever...
how can it create hibernation image?
hmmm... i will try it anyways and let you know...

one more question on my CF card, i couldn't boot with 'ewfntldr' renamed 'ntldr'...
so i changed back to normal 'ntldr' and still ewf works...

do i need ewfntldr to skip resetting hibernation?
so i copied 'ewfntldr' on harddrive and it boots...
if i copy whole drive into CF will it boot ok now?

i have kingstion elite pro 2gb...
i had to use fat... cuz i formated in fat32 and didn't boot up...

anyway i will try this on the harddrive...
    thank you...
