Have a look at this thread on HORM support in Road Runner.Originally Posted by masch

Just wondering if an administrator could make this thread sticky? I have to dig for this thread every time...
masch, is kind of an old thread, so don't know if you're still having the same problem, but instead of mounting a 2nd drive, how about just splitting the drive into 2 partitions? (ewf on drive c:, and drive d: open for writes). Works for me...
bosskong
are you sure its working? do you use it in a HORM environment?

I had to find this down the list.... Admins... Please sticky this!Originally Posted by SFiorito
I followed your instructions to the letter, but for the life of me... the damn file protection would insist on restoring winlogon.exe. I tried everything, but I did manage to get it working. I can't remember the sequence, but I have minlogon installed and it has improved my startup times. My next project is to get HORM working. I am not going to bother with XPe... seems like to much work for too little benefit. I'll eventually do the nlite thing and run from CF, but for now... if I can get HORM working from the hard drive, that will do nicely. Thanks for paving the way!
By the way... save a couple of profile configuration items, every piece of hardware worked flawlessly! WIFI worked immediately without any reconfigurtion for WEP. Bluetooth settings were retained... etc. I am going to canabalize my installation again and start from scratch. I want to research the fastest possible memory device (CF or whatever) to max boot times. The only thing that could possibly be cooler would be to EPROM the whole shootin match.
what's your boot time after the tweak?
I'm still far from satisfied, but I went from 35 to 26 seconds... I have to play with bootvis to improve things, and I have had some issues with the system since installation, but... that's the noted improvement.Originally Posted by wei2cool
what hardware are you running? specifically mobo+CPU, ram, and hard drive?

I Underclock the processor to keep it running cool. Did a bench on this and it costs me about 1 second.
I am running Hauppauge WinTV Go-TVFM, 3com USB Wifi, TrendNet BT-101 Bluetooth, Deluo BU-303 GPS. I am an SE... so I have the OS/Hardware stuff in hand, but your thoughts are certainly welcome. I've optimized the bios as much as I can from the settings available. I had a very fast startup before i started adding crap (sub 15sec), but I have not done any real optimization of the system since installing the system in my car. I am pretty sure the creative drivers are costing me some time. I was mostly concerned about functionality before I took my recent holiday with my car. I didn't notice how slow it was until I actually had to use it for its intended purpose.
I really have to play with the system using bootvis to see what's going on, but I am sure I can get the sequence running more efficiently. I noticed that the system hibernates pretty darn fast (about 3 seconds), but the startup from hibernation, is brutally slow (25 seconds), so I'm betting I have a disk channel performance issue, just not sure where. Basically, I gotta start rippin and playin to find out whats up.
I'm pretty sure I am going to gas the mainboard and processor in favour of an Intel product, and I'm gonna try the CF mod you speak of... but if you have any other thoughts, I'm all EYES![]()
I'd love to know what performance you are seeing with your configuration... CF versus HDD and so on.
Thanks for the interest!
