    XPe First Boot Agent Problem

Alright...this is what i get for trying windows...

I downloaded the XPe dev kit and ran tap.exe and went through all of the crap to set up an embedded system tailored to my hardware..and when i try to boot into it it runs the FBA (First boot agent) EVERY TIME! I cant get out of this loop....any ideas?

What does your dependancy check say?

BTW I have only achived 198 MB footprint size with XPE/SP1, when keeping .NET and IExplore. I have achieved 247 MB with nLited WinXP/SP2 + minlogon with same options. The only difference now is Drivers folder under System32. Just to let you know its probably not worth try XPE anymore.
BTW you dont have full version, dont you?

I did not have problems troughout the process and have watched all the nice movies about how to generate an image etc etc. I tried with an autodetected profile as well as with the one provided by VIA. I do have a good version and even the eval should work for 120 if I am not mistaking. Yet with all my attempts I cannot get past the FBA!

My suggestion is to keep away from all VIA bits as they are simply wrong (except CLE266 XPE driver). Clean the databaze of it and delet them from your project and re-generate the image. It IS working (at least for me). I can send you one of my working profiles, if you are interested.

Check the MSDN docs about FBA problems with EWF. I don't have it on hand, but there's a FAQ about your problem.

    Okay, check here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en...Repeatedly.asp

    and here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en...iguringEWF.asp

What EWF mode are you using (if any)?

*EDIT* and like mpatton wrote: I don't think the hassle of XPe is worth it anymore for us. Just use the nLite and the EWF+minlogon hacks in the OS Optimization forum and you'll achieve the same result.

i think i found the problem with the FBA loop....

it happens when you set your boot drive, windows folder etc..etc... the boot drive will be C:/ if your dual booting..but the others are gonna be the drive letters as they appear in fdisk... for example in windows my second drive is F:/ but in fdisk it is D:/ so i should put D:/Windows...D:/Documents and Settings etc...

do a search on msdn.com and type in FBA Loop problems...

    im gonna try this now...
