I've been trying to get a XPe image to even compile. I've tried to follow the videos but have been unsuccessful. any tips on information for noobs that want to work on XPe?
um... WinCE run on x86 arhitecture (as well as arm and may others). It is also Win32 API. The lastest version is also .NET 2.0 (albeit the compact framework which is a subset of the standard framework).Originally Posted by tipastar
I think what you meant to say is that you are more familiar with the NT kernel architecture. Which is fair enough, but with all the platform builder work that has to be used to build your XPe image... it's virtually the same as working with CE. There are also many great articles, samples and even vieo tutorials on CE development on MSDN.
Runtime license are also cheaper with CE than XP.![]()

just follow the HOWTO's on MSDN for XPe SP2. you shouldn't have any problems. essentially just run TAP.exe on your target machine, import the SLD, create a target, etc., etc., compile, deploy....

Just keep trying. I'm a noob also but I got a bootable system after few go's (not anywhere near usable though). I havn't had much time recently but I'm going to start working on it again.
There are loads of tutorials about. Keep looking.

hi all..
Would someone share the xpe components (slx) with us that needed to run with centrafuse?
come on people.. so that we compare our images..
Here are a few Components
The one that should help most is the Full WinXP one, which will give you an idea how to make macro-components, and also what is needed to get a standard representative install - although this is not ideally the way to develope WinXPE, it will save a fair bit of time.
Enjoy.
