Nlite users please help

Hello all,

I just recently downloaded nlite 0.99.6bi and 0.99.5 and ran it through xp sp1, xp sp2 and nt 2003 using safe mode. None of the iso I created works, it fails at the blue screen saying "Windows could not copy such and such file press enter to retry, esc to ignore" I already spent over 5 cds to create the iso, the rest of the iso's were tested using virtual PCs. The original cd works fine. What am I doing wrong?

I have no idea what that means, but I think you need clarification on the purpose of nlite.

nlite takes a windows install CD and removes components from it. It is still a windows install CD, you have to boot to it and run the windows installation, like you would with a normal copy of windows.

Thats what I did. I tried nlite on xp sp1,sp2 and 2003 installation cd. I couldnt get any of the iso cds to install. The orginal installation cd works fine. First time around I manually select most of the components I didnt want. That didnt work. Then I tried using the "safe method" that didn't work also. Then I tried not taking anything out at all still didnt work. I also tried unchecking unattended. When I use the iso cd to install, windows couldnt copy some of the files. I hope this makes more sense.

This is what I get when I use nlite iso installation cd.
The orginal installation cd installs fine.

hmm. That's really bizarre. I've never heard this before. Maybe you should post on the nlite forums.

I believe when you get that error, setup is telling you is it missing the file.

i got this when i first tried..... it does it if your trying with SP0 or you add the SP in after deleting components.... you can just hold you hand on the ignore key, and it will install fine....

Doing this will get me the blue screen.

This application has failed to start because xxxxxxxx.xxx was not found. Re-install the application may fix this program.

I really want to get xp on the CF card I just bought. I've already spend 2 days on getting nlite to work. Even tried it on another computer. The mobo im using this on is a epia m10000, can anybody send me their nlite iso, or ghost image of nlite + minlogon. EWF Ill setup later after I install my set of programs.

i just tried it last night and it worked, well sorta. I got the same errors you had. Im thinking that nlight just deletes files and doesnt change how it installs. Know what i mean. So by hitting Esc. and skip them all it installed fine. I got mine down to 808mb installed...is this good or still a bit to big?

Well for a start you have cut by half, that's good in itself ... there are some that have got it done even further ... so keep it up

Do you have paging enabled?? It takes up a lot
