    XPUltraLite Testing

It would be great it you guys could post any findings in using XP UltraLite. The following would be great.

    1. What you think should be removed and why.
    2. What needs a warning message.
    3. What definitely works well.

I will define these rules for my app that creates the data file for Odyssey.

Please try to keep this thread pretty clean so I can sift through it to get all the relevant information.

The help would be greatly appreciated.

Haha. I just realized something. It seems like all OdysseyPC and I have created is another XPLite. And to top it off. it's name XP Ultra Lite. haha. that's awesome!
Odyssey's application and my data for it will head toward a more trim/tweak style app with feature oriented towards carpc os installs.
It is distinguished from XPLite, but the trim part of it is pretty much the same.
I would love to have some preset minimums for certain applications.
For example, tell the app you plan on installing frodoplayer and phonecontrol and it will flag those items so you know not to remove them.
We'll see where this app heads in the near future i'm sure. I'll try to provide whatever information Odyssey needs in the data file.

So it works, I've killed 2 installs so far (dead, would not boot). I'll take more detailed notes in the future, but for now I'm inclined to say we need to assign in your face warnings about components that will render your system unbootable.

One thing that I think needs fixing... Once you run the program to remove component the database of components on your system should be updated to reflect removed components. Also if you remove a component and then go back to do a new analysis/survey of components on your system (actually press the button to start the analysis) the app starts and just sits there. You can close the window so it hasn't crashed but the app just doesn't do anything.

Also, when you get an error in the error log about a file not being removed it would be nice to know why (file not found?, or is the file in use?)

    Thanks,

    momanz

Here's an idea, maybe you should have the program monitor the boot process to see what files are loaded/read and programs are executed during booting the system. Once that list is compiled xpultralite can provide a warning if one tries to remove these files/components...

    just a thought
