minlogon experiment gone wrong for a sec

as you can see, i used the minlogon files and enabled it you might say, it works great, but the problem is that i wanted it to load faster so i went into the registry and changed the "Shell" key which is "Explorer.exe" to media portal, a nice media app from sourceforge...

the problem is.. it works and loads on startup but keeps loading.. and loads multiple exe's of it.. thats the bad part..

im thinking this could be program error or it just doesnt work the same as it usually does.. with winlogon.. idk.. weird problem..

    [FIX]

i did finally fix the problem, i had radmin (remote admin) already on there, and i transfered explorer.exe to it.. and made it the same exe as mediaportal.. so it thought media portal was the shell and now it really loads the explorer.exe and it fixed all my problems.. (YOU BETTER have network access to the drive or your screwed) oh and ctrl alt del didnt work in that case either

tell me what you think about this...

So explorer only loads once but mediaportal loads multiple times? Can you try it with another exe like notepad. See if it loads notepad multiple times.

that's weird... i've changed the shell before and never saw anything like that. there's also another registry value that makes XP reload the shell if it's shutdown, maybe if you change that value, although I don't get why it would reload it when the app is still running.
