Need help optimizing Win2k for fast boot
I would rate my computer skills as sufficient to get me out of a jam, but not sufficient to program. I know how to edit and save my Bios, but I don't know what everything does in there. I only feel comfortable editing the registry when I have clear instructions to follow.
So that gives you an idea of where I'm coming from when asking for help in decreasing the boot-up time of my Win2k carputer. I'm planning the install for this weekend despite having a 90 second boot time. I've hunted for a tutorial and glanced through the posts in this forum - most have to do with XP. (Maybe I should change? That would take days!!!)
Can anyone out there hook me up? I have a keyboard, wireless optical mouse dongle, camera, GPS antenna, bluetooth dongle, powermate and touchscreen connected to a USB hub with the hub, a DVD drive, and XM connected to my computer USB ports. I've added a 2-USB and 2-firewire hub to the case using the mobo's terminals, but nothing is currently connected to them. The 90 seconds is measured from ign on to music playing. I'm using Frodoplayer, the PC is a P4, 1.8gHz, 1056RAM, 160GB 7200 RPM HDD.
Any tips or tricks available?
