You need to break out the manual for your motherboard and read what all the BIOS options are.Originally Posted by Moneyfink

I am going to try to install windows 98 on the computer today because it is fairly old (2001) and it may not like xp.

if you are installing windows 98, do you have a floppy drive? for what i know original win98 doesnt boot from cd, so you need a boot disk to get to dos. also you can try to make a bootable cd and burn win98 with it if you dont have floppy drive. thought of installing that on my carputer but i dont think in this age, win98 can keep up with all the things you want in your computer, i usually had problems with my devices that is why i switched to win2000 pro or xp.

Did you find the boot sequence in your BIOS?Originally Posted by Moneyfink

I installed windows 98 and went very quickly and was easy. Then while windows was running I inserted A windows XP disk, and clicked upgrade, instead of fresh install. everything went very smoothly, and now i have xp on a 5 year old mobo. I am now just installing drivers and transfering my 100.78 gb of mp3's. Sorry i can't help you with your win98 question b/c i only ran win98 for a few minutes
