Aeqis was working on this and got a stable xp of 46 meg, he got burned out while making an installer for it, though his batch files worked very well. He is taking a break from it but not given up.

    your tool is great
anything you can do to improve it, i will try
i figure the more age it gets
the more popular it will get

    I personally use it alot
and would love to see more features

with a little bit of work
i have managed to get my nlited windows
    then xp system builder edited
down to 29MB commit change with themes still on and stuff and that includes the 2 MB task manager takes up

this is great, but one thing i noticed is not every component you remove will decrease memory usage,

    some increase it

so mainly its about lots of testing, and making sure when you remove stuff, it doesn't increase the memory usage,

honestly, didn't that 46 MB xp project say 27MB memory usage, and what do you get with that, no directx and 4 bit colour :P

xp system builder, is far more advanced than most can handle, but is simple enough for those who can distingush safe from not to remove.

I will continue to post my results here

and hope more users will accept this project and start realising its true potential

    Thanks

hey, cool. you could also post your nlite and xpsysbldr config files (just use save config... from the file menu, it'll create an xml file listing all the components you keep).

honestly it would work better if i could get away with posting the edited files
since some of the comonents i remove require additional editing .sif file

ex. safe mode and setup vga, require all entries in the .sif file pointing to vga64.dll and vga256.dll to be ; outed

well im down to 27MB memory usage on second boot
this is due to using 16 bit colors saves like 2MB ram
    not 16 colors lol

you think the edited files being posted would break any laws? or you think the config files will be the only way to go, plus what lines need to be edited?

it might be more useful to have the config files that way people can modify in xpsysbldr even more if they want to.

BTW I am interested on seeing how people are testing their images. Are you using real HW or are you using virtual machine? If VM, what solution? Microsoft VM? VMware? Other? Just FYI I have downed MS VM 45 days trial and I am not able to mount ISO created by nLite and boot out of it. Anyone having same issues?
