Accessing External USB Hard drive with Nlited Windows XP?

    Hi

I've used the safe setting.ini in this thread and made a nlited version of Windows XP SP2, But I am not able to access a external USB hard drive (30gb) with the settings. Does anyone know what needs to included in order for support for large USB hard drives??

My Usb PEN drive works ok.

Or has someone got some nlite settings they have used which works for them.
Its down!!!! Sold the Golf so took it out, it's still alive but not installed.

Sorry for the late reply... would the drive happen to be a Maxtor? In any case, go to Settings - Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Storage - Disk Management (what a trail, eh?) and tinker around a little.

For some reason, my machine hates my Maxtor 160gb external and my Hitachi 250gb internal... maybe you're having the same problem.

Hi, I wrote the safe nLite settings.ini writeup.

I just reinstalled my OS using the same settings in that thread and my USB external drive was working. However, the reason I reinstalled my config. was because the external drive wasn't being detected but I think that either minlogon or some services disabled were the culpret.

Make sure your BIOS is seeing the drive (if it supports booting from other devices) then make sure the drive is formatted. Also your USB adapter might need the drive to be set to Master Slave or Cable select.

Do you have minlogon enabled on your system ?

My USB drive works fine even with MinLogon. Power is the problem with mine.

UK, did you use the safe nlite settings ?? I got a question... I'm seting my system up now and w/o minlogon my systems booting around 22-25 (w/out my bios configured) I think I can shave maybe 2-3 seconds..

I was contemplating on this build not even implimenting Minlogon... since my boot times are great right now..

Whats your take on tihs ? I mean I know we've all had so many issues with minlogon... even though on normal XP it has dramatically reduced the boot time on nLited systems it doesnt seem to have that much of an effect.

It seems to shave 5 or so seconds off my boot times, possibly more. I have pretty much everything working. I always use my own nLite settings as then I can cut more out.

So far I have had everything working fine including Wireless, USB Hdds, Network Authentication.
