    pagefile.sys removal?

I'm playing with the whole nlite thing... and part of the process mentions to get rid of the pagefile.sys to bring the entire xp pro sp2 install down to sub 300mb

i did my nlite install and was breaking 900+mb ... (164mb install files turned into 900+)

so i'm assuming pagefile.sys as well as some other files make up a large portion of this...

how do i delete it? I can't even find it... i'm thinking windows is hiding it.

Also... does turning page file (VMM) on the epia M series boards really affect it?

Set the Page File to nothing under System Properties, Advanced, Performance, Settings, Advanced and press change.

i've done that... there's no actual file to be deleted?

doing this automatically gets rid of that file?

Also... has this had any adverse affects for the epia M series folks? I've done some researching on exactly what pagefile.sys does... which is why i ask.

It should have automatically removed the file by setting it to 0

okay got it... i'll try this when i get home and see if my boot partition free'd up some space...

so how about the performance question? I'm assuming its workin out well for everyone... otherwise no one would do it right?

No windows leaves it there. You should be able to see/delete if you have 'view system files' selected.

It removed it automatically on my system I think when I set it to zero, although it is a few months since I've done it.

Well, its your swap file. You need a decent ammount of RAM if you are going to do this (512/1G..)

So select "Do not use pagefile", press the "Set" button and reboot. Your pagefile.sys will no longer be there.
