Well spoken! The only stupid question is the one that doesn't get asked! While I understand that repetitive posts are frustrating, I sometimes like the "New" information that results from them. I happen to be interested in this topic, no so much however, that I am willing to search exhaustively for the info. Since someone brought it up... I thought I'd lurk and get some info.

Sometimes pointing to a post where the answer is located is helpful to someone who isn't adept at search query strings. Remember, there's always someone out there worse off than yourself!

    End Wax.

    PS... RoyN... funny stats

Yeah RoyN I noticed that too. I wanted to find out about this too but it wasn't worth my time (atleast for today) and I felt the need to say "Spoon feed me" but because of my experience with forums from other sites I knew not to. Funny how my post count is low and I'm the "spoon feed me type". Thanks BugByte for the info. I'll put this on my todo list to test out.

And how would this help the neighbours son whos coming to ask same question ?

Punishing "n00b" asking a dumb question doesnt really stop next one asking it again does it ?) It is scary to ask anything in here ...

Also, searching results quite a lot of to read, if i try to find a solution for mu prob, RR is not updating mp3 screen when song changes, i get 448 results with "screen is not updating" ... Pain in the ***

The fact is, there is little, if any, performance increase, period. Sure a faster HDD with a large cache will lower boot times a bit. But then again, it'll improve the overall performance of the system, too.
    That's been proven.

And I was able to glean that nugget of information by reading the other threads on this topic.

I think it sucks that n00bs aren't willing to do a little bit of research and reading and feel they need to have an answer tattooed on their palm for easy access on test day or some bull****.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

You guys are great! What about usb 2.0 thats 480Mbps. The only advantage I see with removable is that you can take it inside and configure your system without taking out your whole carputer. That and better shock resistant.

SFiorito was testing some USB disk on chip sort of things, that supposedly were much faster.... dont think he posted concrete results (he was having some issues getting the appropriate bios that recognized the faster usb boot media)

yeah, I got a 15 second cold boot (from the on switch to XP desktop) using the uDOC on a Lippert Thunderbird-MM. It's amazingly fast. But now with a new hack you can use any USB device (flash or external HDD) to boot XP. Take a look at my thread from last week with the link. I haven't tried it myself yet though. And there may be side effects due to USB devices appearing as removable (i.e., no ACPI for instance). Again, I haven't tried this yet.

In my response I pointed what to look at (might as well learn and understand stuff rather than have everything chewed and digested for you). And there is in fact a need to point out that there is a lot of useful information to be found here, if one searches that is. I prefer to have "redundant" posts in a thread then a bunch of threads that ask same question.

    Q. Can you spoon feed me?
    A. No.

On the other hand, I WAS searching for information and, instead, got this silly drivel which seems to serve no purpose other than to feed the poster's delusions of superiority.
Talk about wasting peoples time... how many people HAVE searched for a solution and, instead, have been forced to read through this garbage?

If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.

Congratulations on posting in a 5 year old thread.

You know, part of searching through results from a search is actually reading thru the results and finding what would help you. Sure there might be quite a few threads like this, but its easy to see from the get-go that this thread would produce no value.

Keep searching. You'll find the answer sooner or later. The search engine can't spoon feed you either.
