EWF problem

Okai ive done this.

Using EWF on regular WinXP

But once i reboot and go to a cmd line and type "ewfmgr C:" i get
"Failed getting protected volume configuration with error 1. Incorrect Function"

Can anyone help? thanks.

Also my HD is on the secondary IDE cable, Primary isnt working for some reason, could this be a problem?

use: New EWF + MinLogon and CF instructions

and make sure you have XPe SP2 EWF files otherwise it won't work. Also, double-, triple-, and quadruple-check your registry entries to make sure everything is in there properly as well as making sure the files are in the right directories. When you boot up make sure you don't have any other hard drives plugged in besides your EWF drive.

*EDIT*: didn't see your last part about your IDE channels. Make sure the ArcName matches your boot.ini arcpath

My arcpath is set as "C:" i dont think thats right? what should my arcpath be set as?

EDIT: Stupid me haha. okai lemme fix things up and give it a reboot to see if it worked.

Yeah, it works now. But everytime i restart, or turn my comp off and on again, it comes up with that.

Safe mode
last known good configuration
Start windows normally

Also when i type ewfmgr c: into a cmd.
it says the type is RAM (REG), isnt this the wrong mode? dont we want just RAM?

no, this configuration is RAM (REG) which means that EWF stores its state in the registry. regarding the safe mode... read the doc I linked in my first reply...

haha my stupid mistake again, it was because my reboot before wasnt done properly, then i enabled the overlay. So it just keept coming up everytime.

I just disabled it, rebooted, selected the start windows normal option, enabled overlay and its working perfect now
