Why won't it run the install packages from my VIA CD, i.e. the 4in1s?
Damn, no SAPI support in any of the TinyXP revisions you have to roll your own. Which I will do. It will be between REV03 and REV04. As far as boot up and hibernate performance I am getting the same times as my full install of XP w/SP2. around 30 seconds from cold boot and 24 second from hibernate.

Though it did fix a wierd issue I was having with the .swf version of draw and RR seemed to run smoother as well.

    Hi Guys~!

It seems that, with all the celebration over this version of TinyXP, comes the many problems that are not being mentioned in any of the posts I have seen here, and I feel that I have to share these problems with you...

First, I have noticed that the creator of TinyXP has chosen to place his/her name as "Administrator", which means that there is no control over changing this option upon installation (unlike the Full version)

..and this problem with Admin rights come to play when trying to access GPedit command, and making changes via the Command Prompt; etc...

Second, As written in the description file, the full version of Internet Explorer seems to be missing, even when option to "open file with" does not produces the Browser, one has to have a backup engine (Opera, Firefox; etc) available to connect to the web....

I am sorry but, it appears that there are monumental problems with this appreciated release, and I am very disappointed that none of the more experienced personnel in the forums could not help clarify these major details to the newbies (myself included)

Thank You for any help provided~!

    zaijian~~

Why does every forum have those that needlessly write smart aleck remarks, instead of well meaning help or advice~?!

If a product does not work properly...should we all just remain silent and let others be affected by the outcome~?

Please remain silent bob..that would be the most useful thing you could do~!

I told you what to do. Once the TinyXP is compiled you can't do anything, so you have to recompile with the features you want and he has a guid online that goes in to detail on what you need. I'm far from this frums smart aleck just hang around a bit more and you'll see the true forum smart alecks come around.

the guy that makes them, TinyXP ISOs, has a forum that is down at the moment, but he was aksing for suggestions for future version of TinyXP. We can do nothing about it. You want changes help him get the forum up and running and post them there, http://www.retestrak.nl/Board/

I had no problem getting online with version 04 so I don't know what issue you are having. I can't recall if I tried to access group policy, but I had no problem accessing services.msc

Ok I used Nero StartSmart and created an image disc with TinyXP Rev 04 on it. I'm trying to boot my carputer from it but it just goes straight to windows and won't recognize that the image disc is in there. I have the BIOS set to check the CD rom drive first, but still no dice. Could it be because I'm using a USB slim cd drive?

If your computer allows booting from usb in the bios then that would not be your problem. But if you don't see that option then I would have to say yes that is your problem. It's not a cdrom until it gets into windows.

The ".EXPERIENCE" you see after administrator in the folder for the user account profile is just the name of the computer that the local account is on. XP sometimes adds this to the user profile folder on computers that belong to (or were attached to) a domain so I am assuming that when the author made his image that he had had TinyXP attached to a domain. If anyone knows why it only happens on some profile folders I would be interested in hearing why.

When you boot TinyXP it automatically logs you into the local administrator account (IE. "Administrator.EXPERIENCE") If there were a domain account profiles on the computer they would read "User.DOMAIN".

I had no problem getting into gpedit.msc but I only tried it after I renamed the computer. If I remember correctly it always said that it was a workgroup but because of the "Administrator.EXPERENCE" I have a feeling the XP may think its still part of a domain which could deny you access to gpedit. Or did you some how log in as another user when you did the install. Try renaming the computer and make sure its a workgroup computer. If that doesn't work I would do a fresh install. Its a unattended install so I don't know how you could have logged into an account other than the admin account.

Are you sure its REV4 of TinyXP because on the version I have there is a link to IE right in the quick launch bar next to the start button. Other releases of TinyXP had IE removed from them I would check which revision you have.
