Try cleaning your WinXP CD first and check to see if it's scratched up.
I have been running this computer for over a year without a problem. Then I decided to activate the Fax Services Component for Windows. During the activation process I received a message to insert the Windows disk. I did this and shortly I received the following message:
"Setup cannot copy the file fxservent.dl_"
I click cancel and ended the program. I then tried to run the install program again. The same thing happened. Except this time the message said:
"Setup cannot copy the file fxsperf.in_"
I again clicked Cancel. I decided I would reinstall Windows and try to repair the program. I put the Windows CD in and booted from the CD. During the reinstall/repair I received this message:
"Setup cannot copy the html32.cn_ file"
I canceled the reinstallation/repair and now need help.
I am running Windows XP Professional SP2 with all of the updates current. What can I do to fix this problem?
could try copying the I386 directory onto your hard drive using a boot floppy/usb key then run winnt from that directory, setup should run entirely from the hard drive that way
