    minlogon and user profiles

I understand that when you use minlogon, there is nothing to do with user profiles.

However, since this is not a fresh XP install (on laptop or CarPC), I've been logging in as the Administrator. I've got the desktop and other things set-up as Administrator, but when I log in using minlogon, I'm not able to get those items without going through Windows Explorer.

I understand that I could just transfer the user settings to the new user, but what's the new user if minlogon doesn't use users....?

    Anyone have any insight?

I don't know about all this. I do know one thing. When you use minlogon, it uses the System account, but I have no idea where that profile exists or if it even exists.

I guess you could just play around with copying your profile over the "Default User" profile, or even the "All Users" profile. Probably would want to back them up first.

EDIT: From the little bit of research I've just done on it, minlogon by default does not save settings or changes to the profile. I did come across something that said changing a registry key will take care of that, but I still have yet to find which reg entry will have to change. Hope that helps a little at least.

Also, someone else tried to copy their profile over the "default user" and it didn't work.

Unhide the profiles under Documents and Settings, after applying the minlogon stuff you will find some mopre user profiles, you can then copy stuff into them from your administrators account. Also check permissions though as you may not be able to get into the administrators account after applying minlogon, never tried.

and that v8, is why I'm trying to figure out if there's an easier way to get all of my stuff over from my normal log in...
