    Carpu optimized OS

ok, before i begein, dont take this too serious, it might just not end good as describe

Heres the deal, carputer; to me its something that i will only use to play music watch movies and basic stuff. So why do i need ALL windows files? my idea is to created a REALLY slimmed down windows, heres the goals:

    -low services uses(windows services)
    -32mb uses at IDLE(or less)
-No explorer, nothing (boot directly to a main program)
-Must be able to run most carputer programs
    -REALLY fast boot
-fits on 512mb CF(at first) but i will try slim it down to 128mb

The main purpose of this thread, is , what do you think of this? and witch program should i support?(list em plz)
and hum too, this wont be a complete windows install like some nlitedthings you take on warez sites, no, this will have a setup form, you install your windows, the setup slim it down.

any suggestions and opignons are grealty apreciated

A must would be the gps navigation programs. iguidance, map monkey/destinator, mappoint, streets & trips, etc.

    WinDVD and other media players

    needs Flash for Road Runner

    networking capabilities (lan/wifi/bluetooth)

and there's more, but I'm pretty tired... lol

Already did this. Cut Win98 down to 48Mb. Zipped it to 22Mb. On boot it unzips to ramdrive and boots from there. 17 seconds cold boot. 22Mb on flash disk-on-module. No virtual memory, no writes to flash, low memory usage. Supports Directx 9c apps just fine. Networking optional if you turn it on in the BIOS. Runs USB devices ok (running USB touchscreen).

Hey I got my windows xp to cold boot in 20 sec. Resume from hibernate in about 14. I am not even using tiny xp.

MB is a MII12000 with a 120g 2.5 hard drive. Running Minlogon with no EWF.

i always thought that booting off a CF card isn't that good. i mean, it sounds good at first but then they crash or fail or load longer than 2.5 hds..
