    wifi help

I am pretty new to carputers and i am learning as i go. I spent the last couple hours searching and reading the faq in here and learned alot but have a few questions. I am looking into wifi for my setup. Do i need any special software or just an antenia? I am trying to decide on an antenia, reading the other posts about that but is that the only thing i will need, i've read about an adapter? I was looking at the antenia from this site and it says it has gps and wifi and some other things in one antenia? Are there different cords for each thing? I just bought the bu-353 gps reciever not that long ago so would this new antenia replace that or would i run both, bu-353 for gps and the other for wifi? Any help on this will be greatly appreciated, i need a few questions answered so when i'm searching i now what everyone is talking about and any other help anyone wants to add for a newbie to wifi. thanks

You need a WiFi network adapter.
Most people go wth a USB adapter for the similicity, but most of the cheap-o ones aren't going to get you a good conenction.
I recommend the SENAO model that I use. It's high-power and you can mate it to an external antenna if you choose. Even if you don't, it's far more powerful than most.

The GPS is a unit in and of itself and is completely unrelated to wifi. The BU353 doesn't need (or have a connection) for an external antennal. There are other GPS receivers that do, however.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?

The SENAO adapter (search the forums for SENAO and you'll find links and pictures and such) by itself has superior reception.

I suggest trying just the adapter and see how it works for you. If you want more power (Go ahead and grunt like Tim Allen! ), then yo can add teh external antenna. I have a 7dbi gain antenna on a big honkin' ugly-*** magnetic mount and I can pick up access points from as far as a half-mile away. The antenna itselt looks like one of those curly-Q cellphone antennas.

There are also more powerful antennas, as well. Some are whips, some are plates, etc.

Here's links to the sit eI purchased from:
    SENAO adapter
    7dBi antenna
Magnetic mount (There are better mounts!)
