So, with the MediaNET package, you essentially get complete wireless internet access on your PC?
I have the 8525. I know, it's a bit expensive but it is 3G and super easy to tether. Plug in the usb and start Internet Sharing, select connect and I'm done. I get 600-655 kbit/sec when I'm in a 3G area which is quite a bit of the time. I have the MediaNet $20 unlimited plan.
laptop/teathering package, I believe thats $79. So far I have not had any problems from Cingular over it. But then I don't use it much, downloading traffic, and weather mostly. Don't do any serious surfing.
I've been teathering this at my second home for a few months now without any problems from Cingular. Granted i don't do it often.
I also turned off the proxy on the phone. I haven't found a site I couldn't go to yet.
anyways, so i tried the unlimited medianet plan, and tried to hook up the internet. ATT (cingular) tells me that my internet wont work unless i have the data plan. and if i do get it to work, they will charge me 0.01 a kb. so im kinda forced to use the laptop plan which is like 59.99 a month. does anyone know if its possible to use the internet by the medianet only option, or am i stuck at 59.99 a month for unlimited data usage?
As I've posted before I have the 8525 with the medianet plan. I have had this plan for years, started it when I had the 8125. I went to a kiosk in a mall, told them I wanted to add medianet to my account and left it at that. I get 3G service and I have teathered it with a couple of computers. I have had it point out that I am NOT to use this plan on a PDA phone, I am to use the $60 PDA plan. I believe the first month I waas billed by KB. I called Cingular and they removed it, and I have not been billed above the $20 since except when I go over the text messages.
Actually if I remember right I had to go to two different kiosk. The first one said that I had to have the PDA plan, the second one just added it to my account.
