    Newb question

okay this will probably be considered a newb question..

    background info
I just got a new pci wifi card. Comp usa was going out of business..
A trendnet tew-623pi.. How do i connect it to my car pc.. WAIT do not flame yet.. Currently in my car pc is a dlink dl520+ wireless b 11mbs connected to pci card.. I have that installed and connected to the tri band antenna in the mp3 car store from hirschmann .. I am upgrading the dlink to the the trendnet..

    the problem
the dlink is wireless B and 1 reverse sma connector... The trendnet wireless draft N and 3 reverse sma connectors..

    the question
does it matter if i only connect the mp3car antenna to one reverse sma connector on the trendnet card and if so which sma connector do i choose..

thanks for all your comments.. and if ya ready to flame me.. then i ready i'm ready (sponge bob square pants)

Wireless-N uses a MIMO technology to send out and receive signals. If you don't have 3 antennas then you are going to have a significant reduction in range. At home, I have 3 Airlink 10 db gain antennas on my Wireless-N router for example.

dang so would I probably be better off just leaving the dlink in wireless b pci card.. or attach the mp3 car antenna to one of the sma connectors then attach 2 of the other antennas that came with the card.. I was playing around with my dlink and in the windows device settings it shows antenna 1 and 2 transmit and recieve but the 2 option is greyed out because the dlink card only has 1 antenna.. I wonder if it will be the same for the trendnet card.

What is it you are trying to accomplish? if you want Internet in your car, and you have some disposible monthly income, you may want to go with Cellular Internet service. They have PCMCIA cards that can connect to your computer or router.

thnaks for your suggestions Ineffigy.. believe me i already thought about that..
    okay here the situation

all my nics in the house are wireless g.. 54 mbps or something.. if the car pulls up and syncs up.. everyone connected gets drops down to cheesy mbps. even then they start complainig when they are accesing the samba server..

so i thought get a new nic.. wow this is cheap.. hmmn 3 antennas .. hmn connect one to current triband antenna.. then hmm possibly go into thge advanced windows device settings and see if i can configure each antenna like the dlinks is ..maybe turn the other 2 off.

yeah ultimately .. iwant to get me a pc card router and and then the celluar service then a slingbox but for now.. just syncing the stuff on the server and occasional wifi hopping..

Maybe you would like to get a second cheapy wireless g router for like $20-$30. That way the extra congestion is on the wired part of your network and shouldn't affect your other users. (Also lock out anyone except your car computer's mac address to ensure you are the only user.)
