The CB will use a minimum of 4 wires, and yes, all 4 are usually used. TX, RX, Ground, and shield are most common, the shield usually acts as more than just a shield, it also helps for reducing feedback in a lot of mics. The ham, depending on the
radio, will use 3-8 wires..TX, RX, and ground are the minimum 3..a yaesu/icom mic will not usually be compatible with a CB mic (it could be MADE to work, but it will usually
sound like crap). IMO, as I posted in response to your antenna questions, I'd get a ham rig that can be converted to run on 11 meters as well..I'm a Yaesu fan, so I'd still stick with my reccomendation of an 857d..that will let you use 1 mic for both CB and ham, and it'll sound better than cobbling somthing together..What is make/model/etc of this PA amp you speak of? I can probably come up with a suggestion for a mic for it.
