    Bluetooth Question

Still new to the carPC community, I've had my carPC up and running for quite some time now. Skipping a long (and unnecessary) introduction, I want to connect my phone (Samsung SCH-u740, aka Alias) to my carPC, but I'm not sure if it'll meet my own personal preferences.

What I want is for my carPC to display a dialog box that says the name of the person calling, and when I accept the call, I want to talk to the person via my bluetooth headset, NOT the car speakers/mic (simply because of privacy). Also, are there certain types of BT adapters that I need to get, or can I just buy any of the $10 BT adapters off Newegg?

    Thanks in advance!

We just did an install like this yesterday. THere may be better ways to do it, but this how we did it, and the results we got.

    Phone is a motorola razor
We have a run of the mill desktop pc in the trunk.
We have a run of the mill super generic IO gear Blue tooth adapter.

Our adapter lets us connect to the phone is several ways. The way we first set it up was as a blue tooth headset. This allowed us to use the phone hands free hearing the calling party over the stereo speakers, and we talk via the pc micro phone.

Leaving those settings as is, we then connected an actual blue tooth headet to a blue tooth adapter, as a pc headset. That allowed as to pass all the pc mic settings, and the sound cards sound to the blue tooth headset, allowing a private conversation. We did have to select the blue tooth conenction for the headset, and it seems to effectivley make the phyiscal blue tooth headset work as a seperate sound device and microphne. Since the phone was connected already through a virtual headset via the pc, the phone knew no difference, and the pc just thought we had used a different audio device to convey the sound. Was pretty simple actually. We're going to play with it more tomorrow. I have found it very fascinating, all the things you can do just by plugging in blue tooth adapters. Haven't figured out the caller id display yet. But if I do I'll let you know!

    Hope that helps.
    Regards.

    BEAUTIFUL!!!

What program did you use to send and receive calls via your carPC? Was it hard to figure out?

    PS - Thanks so much!
