Using CarPC, phone, and BT headset (is it possible?)

Hi, I'm trying to connect both my Headset and Phone to my CarPC via Bluetooth. The idea is that I'd talk on the phone using the headset (mic/speaker) and be able to dial using the CarPC, but I'm running into some problems.

    Hardware:
    Dongle: MSI Star Key v.2
    Headset: Motorola H12
Phone: Motorola RAZR (I know, it's old and needs an upgrade)

    Software:
    BlueSoleil 6.4.289

Each of the devices function perfectly when they are the only one connected to the computer. I can record and listen to music through the headset when it is the only thing connected to my carputer via Bluetooth. Similarly, I can make calls using my carputer when my phone is the only thing connected, but I can't seem to do both. I think the problem is that both devices are trying to connect using the Headset Profile. I assume 2 devices can't use the same profile at the same time?

If that's the case, is the only way to use a phone on the CarPC to have a dedicated microphone in the car, and to listen to the call through the car speakers? Or is there another solution?

Its entirely possible...one device is a headset source and the other is a headset sink.

From my experience some phones have difficulty maintaining 2 separate bluetooth connections simultaneously. If you think about it from the phones side it needs to maintain a bluetooth connection with the headset and the car pc. About a year ago I tried the same thing but got the same results you are experiencing using 3 phones - 1 windows mobile htc touch, 1 sony w850, 1 motorola razr.

...which is why you have both the phone and the headset connected to the computer and let it route the audio

Since I know you're somewhat of a car pc guru I won't doubt you but I'm having difficulty understanding how this would be accomplished successfully in a car pc set up. I understand what you're suggesting but in the past I tried doing this also and was never successful getting the proper bt services to be friendly and just work reliably.

Well the main issues i've heard people have are routing the audio within windows. Its not too difficult with vista/7 but with xp it requires third party software. If the issue is truly on the bluetooth side make sure you pair each device with the pc separately, that you have two pairs of bluetooth audio devices in windows (should be automatic after pairing both) and then finally deal with routing the audio between.

what specific hardware are you guys using to connect both a headset and phone to the carPC via Bluetooth? I can get each of them to work the way I want to separately, but when I try to use both at the same time, nothing works.

I don't think the RAZR can handle 2 BT connections. I have a 3G RAZR I used to use daily and it would not.

The phone I now use, a Mot Q3h WinMo smartphone, *can* handle simultaneous BT connections. I use it with MyMobiler which is a WinMo remote control program but I do it over a USB cable because I've had difficulty getting that to work over BT. I can still use the BT headset if I want to, or use the speakerphone function.

Hardware based Handsfree protocol is almost always limited to a single SCO (Audio) channel in phones. Software based handsfree (smartphones and PC's) are only limited by bandwidth which usually allows about 3 SCO (Audio) channels (sometimes a lot more). Of course this may also be software limited but I know it can be done on widcomm based software (like the windows bluetooth stack in vista+).

Yeah, the RAZR can only handle 1 connection at a time, but what about connecting both to the PC? My dongle only supports Headset Profile (HSP), and not (HFP). I assume that I can't have both my phone and headset using the HSP?
