Antenna < $20

Well I figure they aren't all born equal, but how the heck do I tell the difference? If I want to spend $20 on an antenna for an Orinoco how do I decide... any reason this should be awful http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...&category=3704 ? Can't be as bad as no antenna.... anyone recommend a cheapy they've had success with?

There arent any cheap antennas on that site anywhere. The "orinoco one" you mention is just a pigtail, the thing you use to connect your card to an antenna

Click on "Antennas - Omni" about half way down there is "5.5 dBi Magnetic Mount Antenna with MC for ORiNOCO" listed.

It's an odd web site, doesn't like you making links, odd frameset.

actually it can be as bad as no antenna, that one is a POS.....

when it comes to antenna's you usually get what you pay for so I'd shell out some more cash and get one from fab-corp, the nice thing about them is they are VERY helpful when it comes to problems with their products. I made the mistake of getting an antenna off of ebay that didn't have the right connector on it and they were nice enough to make me a custom cable adapter, it took three times but they sent all three out and only charged me for one!

fab-corp seem to be just as good a deal, would you agree? It will no link directly but if you go here http://www.fab-corp.com/I1.htm and click "Omni Antennas" about half way down there is a 5db mag mount antenna for an Orinoco - I assume that means it has the connector on it already - for $15

wow that is cheap...i wonder how well it works. that refferring to fabcorps 5.5 orinoco adapter/antenna for 15 bucks...dirt cheap

They want $10 shipping whicg seems a bit steep but I guess $25 delivered isn't so bad.

just be aware that that antenna has no built in ground plane so it will only work properly when its stuck to the roof of your car (this been the mp3car forum i don't see this been a problem)
