I am also shopping for a usb wifi. Preferably something with a removeable antenna so that I can attach an amplified omnidirectional one with at least a 6db gain. Have been looking for something suitable for almost a week. Open to suggestions as well.

Well, you've answered your own question then haven't you? Go to netstumbler's website and figure out which USB w-fi adapter is compatable.

I'm using a Microsoft USB Wi-Fi adapter and it's supported by Netstumbler. (Don't laugh, it works and I got a deal on it from best buy because it was opened)

I use the Linksys USB wi-fi. Mine is 802.11b, but they also have a G now. It is compatable with netstumbler. Works good, no removable antenna, but a little soldering will allow for whatever you want.

if you want to wardrive you're going to want one that you can pigtail an antena from.. or at least solder something on.. cause the linksys ones are very weak

Atleast the silver would do. I have been thinking about popping one of those badboys open and replacing the the 802.11B PC Card inside card with an Orinico 802.11 B+G card. I don't know if it would work but that way you can access higher bitrates where supported.

the dual mode cards are not supported by netstumbler. You might get it to work, but dont count on it.
