I'm gonna go to Costco, and get one of the T-mobile prepaid kits. Hell, if it doesn't work, I'll just return it for a full refund.

    I love Costco.

    Peace,

Well, I was just doing some searching, and I stumbled upon this:

    http://www.t-mobile.com/prepaid/impo...ationpopup.asp

    Wireless service
Coverage only available on the T-Mobile USA Network. Except where noted, all rates are for domestic usage. Any fraction of a minute used is rounded up and charged or deducted at the full minute rate; calls or sessions are measured from the time the network begins to process the call (before the phone rings or the call is answered) through its termination of the call. Phones are sold for use on our GSM and/or GPRS systems; they may not be compatible with other wireless systems. Airtime charges apply to all calls, including toll-free calls. You will be charged for all calls processed through your phone. Your phone can process more than one call at a time. Certain types of calls or features involve multiple calls and you will be separately charged for each call. These include forwarded calls (incoming to your Unit and outbound to the forwarded number), call waiting or hold, conference calls and unanswered incoming calls that are forwarded to your voicemail. Rates, charges, calling areas, terms and conditions, and business practices are subject to change.

    t-zones
t-zones capable phone required for t-zones service. Ability to use some services depends on phone capability. You agree to pay for the HiFi Ringers™, MegaTones® , and/or graphics you order ("Downloaded Materials"). You must verify that your handset is compatible with Downloaded Materials you order. You realize that you will get charged if you order Downloaded Materials even if your handset is not compatible. Some of your personal or account information will be shared with T-Mobile's business partners in order for you to receive Downloaded Materials. Downloaded Materials are the property of their respective owners or licensees. Downloaded Materials on your handset may not transfer to another handset or SIM Card. Your handset must be turned on and you must be on the T-Mobile USA network to receive Downloaded Materials. You are responsible for reading the instructions about how to save Downloaded Materials to your handset. If you lose the Downloaded Materials because of an error in saving them, you may not receive a refund. You will be charged for any applicable taxes.
Additional restrictions apply; see Terms and Conditions for details. ©2003-2004

Notice how it doean't say anything about GPES not being available. Hmmmm, am I ready to have 2 phones with me at the same time?

Man, I wish they made phones that support 2 different sims at the same time.

    Peace,

    Rafster

I just did something that was probably really smart of me. I just bought myself a preactivated T-mobile To Go sim with 60mins of talk time. I bought it for $6.00 free shipping on ebizzle. When I get this, I will test out the possible GPRS Modem option.

Just think about it, if this works, for $100 one time fee you can have free GPRS access in your car for a year. After the year, just keep adding $10 cards every once in a while.

    : DROOL :

    Peace,

    Rafter

I just saw this thread and I've got a t-mobile prepaid sim card that I've already spent $200+ on. But my phone is a Nokia 6010 and afaik, it has no options (no ir, bluetooth, etc). Can someone recommend a cheap phone that I can pop my sim card into and easily get free internet access through a data cable, or preferably, via bluetooth?

Any Motorola or newer Nokia phone.

Check Ebay for something like a Motorola V300 or Sony Ericsson T610 or Nokia 3660/3650, 6600

I get my T-mobile card tomorow, to test GPRS function!!

    Peace,

    Rafster

So, did it work? I'm using this with my T610 via bluetooth now. It's slow
Probably because it's an older phone. My s105 was faster via IR. Anyway, still pretty damn cool to have unlimited Internet wherever for $5 a month. Bluetooth rocks as well.

I haven't gotten it yet. It should be here today with the mail @ +/- 1:30PM PST.

The reason why it's probably slower on your phone is because your phone (T610) is GPRS class 4. The S105 is GPRS Class 8.

I'll let you guys know what I discover when I get the prepaid sim.

    Peace,

    Rafster
