purely unbelievable !!!!!
I'm typing this on my pocket pc through my ericsson t616.
I just bought this phone off ebay, moved my sim card into it, and the phone worked.
so, I revisited this thread..
I couldn't really tell if I had wap access or not. I called T-Mobile and told them of the new [ unlocked cingular phone ] and they said I had t-zones (2.99/mo) and should have wap as well. So they sent the config data over to the phone and all I had to do was hit accept.
now to get it working on the carpc
oh, btw, worked EXACTLY as stated in the first post for bluetooth connection, except that my cid was #3.

Well, today I got the CarPC to use it... works like a champ ( using it now )
Seems faster than a dialup, but not quite as fast as a slow DSL...
but hey, for free, and portable ( always on ), you can't beat it...
Thanks for the precise info

hmmm... I've been hearing on the howard forums that t-mobile is now restricting this type of thing. A lot of people have been saying that port 80 is no longer unlimited unless you go with the $20/month plan. :\
I tried doing this on my SE T610 just now and it doesn't seem to be working. I do not have the $4.99/month t-zones service, but I shouldn't have to have it in theory.
Don 944 LA, are you still able to use your phone as a modem? Have you noticed any restrictions that have popped up as of late? Also, where are you located, thanks.
I wouldn't mind paying the extra $5 a month to be able to do this but if T-mobile isn't making it possible anymore then there's no use in throwing away lunch money.

Is there anyone in FL doing this with their Car Pc? I'm getting ready to either sign up for Tmobile or Sprint service. Which one would work the best for my Car pc? Which phone works easiest?
when on the internet, are you being charged plan minutes?
Reread the thread. In the first post it even states:Originally Posted by nappyjim

Is everyone's free WAP access still working? A few days ago I was playing around with bluetooth and getting my Nokia 6600 to share with the laptop and after playing around with this I haven't had my "free" internet access on my phone since.
I paried my 6600 and the laptop and used the bt dialup to have the phone dial *99***1# (*99#, *99***(2-4)#, etc) and I could get it to connect and grab the ip and what-not, but the ip address was the same as the gateway......and it wouldn't let me manually set the ip. DNS worked but I couldn't connect to anything. I've also played with mRouter but then realized it did the opposite of what I wanted (I think at least.) But I basically gave up with it and then the next day went to use AgileMessenger (AIM/yahoo/msn/etc...) and it wouldn't let me in. I've done a full phone format, wiped the mem card, and basically anything I could think of.
The weird part is that I can still use the built in browser to get to t-zones....is this all just a weird coincidence and T-Mobile cut me off right when/before I tried the bluetooth connections? Any suggestions would be useful....I haven't seen this answered in any forum before, but have found a guy with a similar post somewhere....of course no useful replys. :P
Yep, been working for me here in San Diego. I don't use it much. Mainly for my Pocket PC..Originally Posted by imprezive one
I have it set up as a bluetooth modem and call *99***3# ( the 3 might be a 1,2, or 3 depending on your setup )
