That's freakin' amazing...here in NYC, that would essentially ensure a constant signal using netstumbler! however, there is no way in hell that i am going to mount a coffee can to my roof or trunk!! hahahaOriginally Posted by NorthGaVigor

I've seen that done before on the show the screen savers. They used a coffee can to increase thier wifi signal, it worked really good.
The cordless phone antenna would be much better looking in a car, if it works.

Actually, some of the multi-band cellphone antennas have a ~2Ghz band. they also come in car-mountable versions. This might make a much better looking design.

hah, If you search the net long enough, they have a Satellite dish WiFi antenna, which boosts a DIRECTIONAL signal about 20 Db. There are also other tutorials on the net on how to build your own WiFi antenna. But you do need impediance matched componets. And about the frying, if you dont understand, its like trying to run a amp designed for 4 ohms + at 2 ohms, it will overheat, it will fry, and probably smoke. and NO its not going to be magic =/
I want to see the directions for this cofee can pringles nonsense
CarPC install is starting to come along again...
Quick question about the Ebay antenna.... Would it hurt reception to have something going through the center of the coils?
