T-Mobile Internet

OK, I have a Nokia 3595 with the usb cable that hooks up to the car pc. How exactly do I get internet through this thing. Do I dial up, or how to I get high speed? Sorry if this has been covered before, I did a search, but I couldnt get a clear answer.

Not sure if the 3595 is GPRS capable but, you should check that first. If it is, than I think you would use the Nokia Connection software to just connect the phone to the internet. It's just like dialing up somewhere except the # you will be dialing is *99***1#, user id: wapuser1, password: wapuser1

You must enable free WAP on your account by calling customer care (it's free - so don't pay for their $4.99 T-Zones plan).

If your phone is not GPRS capable, than you will dial-up like a normal dialup connection (i.e. dialing an ISP through you phone). Again, your phone will connect via the cable but you will be dialing your local ISP # (this requires that you have some sort of ISP account and local dial up #). This method is called Circuit Switched Data (CSD) and it is MUCH slower than GPRS.

GPRS is unlimited use though the free WAP is limited to certain ports. Do a search here for setting up a server that would allow you to access all ports via free wap. GPRS charges are measured in amount of data downloaded but, free WAP is free and you will not be charged. CSD is charged by using your phone minutes.

This is very cursory information - but, your first step is to find out which types of connection your phone supports and second to download the Nokia connection software.

Thanks for the reply, that is the exact information I was looking for. I already pay for the t-zones, so I guess I am set up that way. Once I get the cable, I will try it out and let ya know how it works out. Thanks again!

Here is how I got mine working in Windows XP:

1) Go to "Control Panel/Phone and Modem Options"
2) Click on the "Modems" tab, click on the "Add..." button
3) Check the box that says "Don't detect my modem" and click "Next"
4) Select "Standard 19200 bps Modem" and click "Next"
5) Select the COM port that you have your phone attached to (it might be a virtual COM port if you are using IR, USB or bluetooth)
6) Click "Finish"
7) Go to "Control Panel/Network Connections" and click on "Create a new connection"
8) Click "Next", then choose "Connect to the Internet" and click "Next" again.
9) Choose "Set up my connection manually", then click "Next".
10) Choose "Connect using a dial-up modem", then click "Next".
11) Name your connection, for example "T-Mobile GPRS", then click "Next"
12) For the phone number, enter "*99#", then click "Next"
13) Leave username and password BLANK, then click "Next"
14) Click "Finish". You're done!

When you click on that connection now to connect, make sure you leave your username and password blank.

I have a Motorola V300 with Tmobile. I pay $4.99/month for Tzones. I also own a Sony Clie Handheld (NX60, Palm OS 5.0) I bought a data cable that goes from my phone to my PDA to be able to connec to to the internet on my PDA. I really despise WAP. I put all the info from a web site that I found into my PDA, and it is just not working. Below is the .Zip file of the site. Please help

Question regarding "free" t-zones...

Is this free internet access for use through your pc using the cell as the "modem"?

Or can I get access to the WAP websites like Fox Sports or yahoo without actually having to pay for t-zones? My account does have the free WAP available. I have a Sony Ericsson T610. It's a new phone and can't quite figure out how to set up the free internet.

Actually, I don't pay for anything.

My boss pays for my line.

I get 1000 Anytime, Free N/W, Tzones, 20 Picture messaging, and 500 text.
