Yes, you should be able to do it, there is a setting somewhere in windows wireless networking. Not on lappy or CarPC so I can't confirm at present.
It looks very much like this device (I've got two of those)
As a wifi adapter I do not know.
- There are now BT 2.1. Look in wikipedia. Less power, higher bit rate. 2.0 came 2004...
- Class 2 is 10m.
- If you are running freephone or what ever, it seems to me that some sw drivers are better suited than others. If I remember correctly stay away from bluesolei. There is also widcomm and broadcom. (Fill me in on this). This device seems to have its own third party driver. I heard of someone actually getting his own SDK do develop his own driver, so this is definitely an issue.
- It has an antenna that folds up. The smaller dongle alike devices are more practical. Its bigger than you might think.
- Some BT devices have Wifi filters. (Like mine). This idicates that they might interfere some. Maybe it is better to have separate devices?
If you want to try it out, pm me and I will send you one at 15$ +p&p.

I used to really enjoy having an antenna (also a satellite dish) attatched to the roof of my car. Unfortunately I found that there is an inverted correlation between the number of wireless devices on my roof and how easy it is to keep an attractive girlfriend, especially after driving by a group of her friends.
